We have decided that the need of a new style of nock to address the new crossbow like Mission 2014, Bow Tech Strike zone, New Barnett Vengeance and many others is needed as the current containment style of Firenock do not allow a full containment nock Like the Firenock Q nock to be seated perfectly onto the string as there are no room for the nock prong to be push into. So here is the new short tubby containment nock that will still clip onto the string like the Firenock D and Q, but it require minimum length so it shall fit most newer cross bow that has the anti-dry fire mechanism way too close to the string. We are going to call it the Firenock "J" We shall start shipping then in about 4 weeks and it should be about 10 grains in weight by itself and fit all 0.300" OD arrow shaft like Firenock Aerobolt II, BE executioner, Gold Tip Laser II and Laser III, Easton Firebolt, And many others. It is going to have the same Firenock shear trigger base containment and launch lock and release nock throat. Below is a sneak preview of what it is going to look like.
They look great Dorge, Do you think they can be used on a 2012 TenPoint xbow? I shoot your flat nocks now but really like the idea of a full containment nock.
Yes, that is why it was designed, I have TenPoint, Mathews Mission 2014, Bowtech, Barnett Vengeance in mind when I design it. Just need a serving that is between 0.135 to 0.155" OD and it should work. I also design that you can just pop your F, V, D, Q nock out and plug in this J nock. They are 100% interchangeable and the end cap depth is made to be IDENTICAL. So if you use a Firenock F nock now, just pop the circuit out and put in the J nock and you are ready to go... Good enough?
I shall work with a few string makers so they know exactly what to expect and built when you tell them about that you are going to use the J nock. The nock to string coupling like all true nock are the most critical for this to work PERFECTLY. the fact remains, not all factory string is true to spec and many have serving that is not perfectly round, which can sure lead to imperfection in release, accuracy, consistency, and SAFETY. This is what I called a true full proof SYSTEM if you want safety factor of a full containment nock but cannot use D or Q nock due to the bow design.
This looks like a solid nock. Although I do have a concern. I have observed that while the string is cocked on the vengeance, there is clearance between the string and the rail. It is actually like this on most Barnetts.I believe this may be due to the capture of the trigger mechinism surrounding the string. By utilizing this kind of nock with the clearance between the string and rail, wouldn't this cause a problem with the way that the arrow comes off of the Xbow? I may be offline on this one. I can also deduece that when the trigger mechimism is triggered that the string could go flat against the rail, causing it to ride the nock down the lenght of the rail. I am just curious how this sequence falls into place. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
Capture nock is a glorified moon nock. This J nock is base on the D and Q nock of Firenock which are both full containment nock which CLICK onto the string. So even with no arrow retainer it will not move forward. The new J nock is to maintain the click characteristic of the Q and D while maintain not being hinder by the Anti-Dry-fire mechanism by some crossbow trigger system. Picture of D and Q nock below for your information.
That would be weird, last time I called the engineer at TenPoint which has my Q nock in hand. He told me if the prongs are shorter by 3 mm it should work. What got changed?
With the Q nock the safety slide knocked the nock of the string. While 3 MM taken off the Q nock SHOULD work, nobody at Tenpoint has seen or tried the J nock to know for sure. On all of our new models, though, we require an OMNI nock.
Flats, Moons, Omni's- Finally OBSOLETE with the addition of this full containment nock size Dorge. Well done! Now others can experience the safety factor visually, audibly, and by feel. Even using a digit-saver.lol I'm surprised these so called professionals DIDN'T work with you closely on this Dorge. We had this discussion last year. I'm glad you keep making the others obsolete by offering more choices. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1798667
Yes, but if you use these nocks in a new TenPoint, you'll void your warranty. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I think it's a bad move by TP to require an Omni nock. I use to recommend TP xbows to friends who were looking for a compound, but I won't be anymore. Sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread. Your new nocks look great to me Dorge! ~E
Well here's a golden opportunity for TP to review and, possibly make a addendum to their policy in time for this hunting season. Truth can never derail a thread. c-t
Dorge, do J nocks work in CAMX CHAOS 325, and the ACCUSPINE ARROW? Also Barnett Buck Commander, which has much down pressure on string, so nock will have etch marks on it when fired? Corky
I know that it will work on the Accuspine arrow as it is the same outer shaft as Black Eagle Executioner and my Aerobolt II-200. As for will it work on the Camx Chaos, I am not sure as I have not tried nor have access to one to test. I think you need to as CaMX as I have send them some D and Q nock to test last year.
