Todd: Medieval style broadheads are now available in Germany, maybe for your's two medieval style xbows? (send PM):

Big broadheads and long arrows. On the pictures from XIV Century French book "Le Livre de chasse" (Book of the hunt) by Gaston Phebus are expensive and sophisticated composite crossbows (wood/horn/sinew prod) with longer power stroke as later steel lath crossbows. And faster - using to hunt to XVII Century.

Google Tod's Stuff. He makes the most amazing crossbows, accoutrements, and all kinds of good stuff. Also hangs out on myarmoury.com.

You will never see me in tights. :p With these sparrow legs???? Naw!!! :p

It is amazing to me when I look at my medieval crossbow and think that the roller nut and tickler designs are the same as it was 500 years ago. That says something for its efficency and durability I guess. To take a deer with one is a rush, at least I think so.

We on WCSA have competitions with medieval crossbow, in the last 3D World Championship the best medieval shooters did almost the same points than the midle sporting xbow shooters.
    And they are beautifull...

I hope with the time some of the medieval shooters from Swedeen come here to the forum.

In my home town, the crossbow it's part of the history because we just won the castle to the mourish with the use of crossbows.
In fact, the main square of Obidos it's name Praça dos Besteiros (square of crossbowmens) by some reason...

The use of a crossbow in Portugal it's totally free, it's considered a sport equipment, so it don't need a special licence, in fact, like the bow, in Portugal it's allowded a kid go to a shop and by a crossbow and use it.
We hunt with bow and crossbow in Portugal, we are probably 100 bowhunters registred normally we shoot to hogs and deers, but most of it it's hog. But of corse we can hunt small game, like rabits or birds... if you catch it...

You need to have the international hunting certification to hunt and it will be possible to hunt on the turistic reserve, now we have a group of bow and crossbow hunters that can help you to find a turistic reserve to hunt. We can hunt all the full moon week of the year and in Portugal you only can have the bad luck of a rainy day, the rest it's a temperature bettween 4 and 45ºC all the year.
