Hello Crossbow Nation, Just got a Horton TRT Ultralite Express 175 xbow. My question is , is there a good arrow /
broadhead combo out there that is fairly cosistant? Right now iam using the Horton Carbon Stike aroows and Team Realtree 100 grn. 3 blade broad heads. They are shooting ok buy i dont feel confident enough yet to try a deer.
I was shooting them @ 30 yrds. I bought a box of the Horton Bone Collector Carbon bolts and the first shot with the same broad head shot way low? I used an o ring to match the blades with the flecthing on both arrow types. I am just trying to keep from buying a bunch of different arrows and broadheads that i will wind up not using. There is not any archery shops around here to speak of so its kinda hard to get to talk with someone who knows what to use.
I have spoken with tryinhardarcher ( Matt ) on here about another question with my new xbow. Thanks guys for a great website!  Brian Houck.

Im shooting 125 grn. shwackers out of my bows. The Bone Collector arrows shoot great as do the alluminiums. My personal setup is a 2216 alluminium, 125 grn. shwackers and AAE max hunters. On the range and off a rifle rest my Vision will shoot groups that you can cover with a quarter at 75 yards. Thats about as consistant as I have found.

That's pretty impressive for bow to shoot like that. I wish my bow could do that.

The Horton V 175 is one of the most accurate crossbows that I have shot. It rivals the Excalibur Vortex which is the most accurate crossbow I have ever shot, but the difference is minimal and not a practical one for hunting.

The Ultra lite, being a highly stressed, very fast and light weight crossbow, will not group as tightly as the V 175 but again, for hunting, the difference is not important, especially if one considers the advantages of the Ultra Lite. I'm talking about maybe one inch difference at 40 yards.

I'm currently shooting the Summit HD 150. I am thinking of getting the TRT. Is the TRT overly loud?

It isnt overly loud. It is louder than the Vision, but in the same range as most other crossbows.

It, IMO, is on the loud side but no louder than the Ten Point GT Flex that shoots 280 fps. I don't worry about that because it is greatly outweighed by its positive features.

That is one good looking crossbow.

I'm liking the speed and weight. Of course that is why I am concerned about noise.

I've hunted with the Ultra Lite most of the time since October but have yet to get a shot at a buck with it but it is a pleasure hunting with it.

My despcription of the Ultra Lite would be something like that cheese brand............."Hellavagood" :thumbsu: the Ultra Lite is on hell of a good hunting crossbow. Its light weight and high performance are unique in the industry. No, I would not use it for a 3D crossbow, just as I would not use a Desert Stryker but both are fantastic hunting crossbows, one just being much lighter in weight than the other.

Hey Moon - just noticed that the string stoppers on your TRT look to have more space between them and the string than in many of the ad pics I've seen.  When my bow came the stoppers were like almost right on the string, maybe an 1/8th inch out.  Did you reset them for pers preference, or was there someone who suggested spacing them farther from the string??

I tried the team realtree broadheades when I first got my bow because they where cheap. They did not group well at all.The problem was that they did not sit well inside the the insert.they were to small and wobbled badly. At first I thought it be because the blades didnt line up with the vanes or the arrows but it was the heads not lining up with the arrows.Quality broadheads solved the problem.

Do yourself a favor...go buy some good quality, all steel construction, mechanical broadheads such as Spitfires, Grim Reapers, or Wasp Jak Hammer SST's.  You won't be sorry!
