The combination of your crossbow and the FOC might work best on a broadside shot. Lots of blade{really sharp} and if it contacts heavy bone you might have a bit of penetration concerns. if you do take a deer with them PLEASE post a pic. I just posted a new youtube clip on the FOC head

I'm grabbing a pack for sure. I like to use a heavy aluminum arrow so I should be hitting with a ton of K.E. I'll be sure to post any kills. Although my luck has been drying up lately......

I was thinking about getting a pack to test on some late season doe's. I'm shooting a tornado with red hot bolts. My concern was that with the red hots already having a insert in the front, will I have too much FOC. with a 170 grain tip. Ive killed four deer this year with slick trick magnums, and haven't been happy with the blood trails. I'm hoping to fix this with these heads. If not, I might just go back to spitfires, I probably should have never stopped using them in the first place.

You will still have less that 20% FOC. The advertising of the FOC of the Red Hots is a little overblown IMO. I use Red Hots and the FOC broadhead also. Concerning scapula hits, regardless of broadhead, regardless of bow, scapula hits are risky and should be avoided.

I agree. I do think a serious practice point like they have for their 100 and 125g regular Spitfire broadheads would be good.

Spitfire are a safe bet no doubt. By the way here is a pic of the NAP FOC 170 inside the rib cage. I don't think I have posted. It utterly chopped the spine completely in half and made a huge hole in the upper rib cage. By the way I have shot a boar with a Spitfire and it did a great job. I am waiting to shoot a deer now with the Spitfire Maxx.

I took 3 deer this season and used the foc for 2 of them, and the Spitfire Maxx for the other. Reason being that I don't want the deer running onto the neighbors property. Anyway, all were hit in pretty much the same lung area at about 20yds. I used 320fps Wildcat, and 330fps Vortex bows for the two taken with the spitfire and foc heads and both deer went down in about 30 yds. with each of the broadheads. The spitfire Maxx went clean through whereas the foc didn't penetrate out the other side, but probably did a lot of damage anyway being in there. Both had huge blood trails regardless. The cuts weren't as huge as the ones I see on the previous photos. When I shot the 3rd deer with an foc and a 330fps vortex bow it didn't penetrate all the way through either although it did break 4 ribs, and that deer went down in about 40yds with a huge blood trail. I'd just be careful not to hit the shoulder blade if shooting a somewhat slow bow with the foc heads. In the end, both heads worked great but I guess I'd choose the foc just for sheer damage and fast takedown if that is needed where you live.

I shot a large buck at 38 yds when it was virtually too dark to shoot. 208# field dressed. I hit it high, about 4" from top of deer above the heart. 1 blade of the FOC broke off in a vertabre, not a pass-thru, deer fell dead. Lots of blood. Poor hit but DRT. Maybe if could always hit there, this would be a great hit! I was lucky, it was a little too dark to shoot. The FOC made up for my hit. A 3" cut is a big cut. Red hot arrow out of a SZ 380.
