i am in the same boat as GrizzWolf. that has been my exp with Horton for over 30years also. this was the first year i almost bought another brand but bought the Realtree Ultra-Lite and couldn't be happier. one thing that always been a deciding factor was my exp with their CS. i am confident when i lay down my hard earned cash if there are any problems Horton will take care of it. thats how they have treated me for over 30yrs.

Hi-I'm new here.  I got my TRT UL 8 days ago.  Its my first CB.  After about 10 shots, one of the limbsavers started rotating on me.  It does it each and every shot now.  I moved it back, but it still does it.  Now the other side started doing it too.  The first one that was giving me problems had even punched a hole through b/c the rod went through it.  I'm not sure if its a defect or what.

Hello Gentlemen I'm back with good results from my NEW TRT Ultra Lite Crossbow and this time I got a good one!!! At 50 yards it will shoot into 3" groups after just a couple of hours. I am impressed with this NEW crossbow. Now since I have not been on the Crossbow Nation Forum for several months let me respond to some statements that were directed toward me and my previous issues. If you will reread this post from the start I had H**l with Janet K. at Customer Service @1-800-291-3649 when I ask her for a replacement of my former TRT Ultra Lite Crossbow which left the factory and must have missed Q.C. altogether or had a extremely disgruntled employee who took there anger out on the bow that I bought. Miss Janet K. informed me that the bow would have to be sent back to be replaced no way around it. Then Tryinghardarcher also told me that it had to be returned to the factory and he and I had a long talk about taking it back to just the dealer and was told NO. Then we talked about the folks at Dodge and the way they conducted business with me and some more off subject stuff. In all of my experence with Horton in the past they were good but the last experence showed me that they dropped the ball at least in my case. Then tryinghardarcher chimed in and I found out that he works in some way for Horton and that sealed the deal for me. ANYWAY back to subject, I returned the TRT ULTRA LITE to the folks that I bought it from and they were very professional in every way. Just had to wait a little while for them to get a new shipment of TRT's from Horton and they sent it back with postage paid and with 6 new carbon arrows with no fee's along with a very nice letter saying they were sorry for my experence with Customer Service at Horton and said that they addressed the problem with Horton Inc. its self. I will continue doing business with them but I still question the Horton response with me. Oh! Mr. Grisswolf I am happy you have had good luck with Horton Customer Service but I DID NOT!! And, I ask for a replacement from Janet K. 1-800-291-3649 very nicely and was told no way... And Janet K. told me that there was no way around it and the dealer I bought it from could not and would not send in my other crossbow for exchange and that I was missinformed if I thought otherwise...THEY DID AND MY NEW TRT ULTRA LITE CROSSBOW SHOOTS GREAT WITHOUT ANY Q.C. Issues. No thanks to HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE...Now I have a warranty and tryinghardarcher says it is a lifetime warranty on the TRT's. AS everyone should see I am still NOT HAPPY with HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE, they made me loose the last part of deer season here with all of the run around and I feel that anyone who is thinking of buying a HORTON PRODUCT SHOULD READ THIS POST ABOUT HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE from beginning to end. NOW WITH THAT ALL SAID I have another NEW TRT ULTRA LITE that is accurate, light, powerful, and deadly and I am sure will kill many deer again without any Quality Control Issues from the Factory..

RJ98, I had the same problem with my old TRT UL and I just made sure that the groves were where they should be in respect with the string and used electrical tape and taped them. Don't know if it will work for the long run but it does work for a while. I am sure there are other better ways but this works for me. Maybe Moon can respond on this issue he is spot on for knowledge on the TRT UL and I guess most others also. :thumbsu:

TR, I hope you have good luck with your new UL. It's a super light weight crossbow that shoots almost 340 fps. Those 2 features require checking of stock screws on regular intervals and it only takes a few seconds. They will work loose with lots of shooting and accuracy goes to you know where when that happens.
Hello Again Moon, Nice looking set up on your TRT Ultra Lite. I have a question for you please. What kind of dampener or silencer do you have on your C.B. and the second part of my question does it make alot of difference with noise? I understand you can't make all the noise go away with a crossbow but every little bit helps.

Hello Again Hunters, A BIG update on my SECOND new TRT Ultra Lite. This crossbow is unreal!! Today I had a chance to shoot it again (second day) and @ 50 yards I can shoot a three shot group in 1" circle. If someone had told me that they would do this when I had my first TRT Ultra Lite I would had called B.S. but this thing is unbeleaveable... I have not had time to shoot it more than 20 times in all and I feel as confident with it as a rifle at 50 yards. The first TRT Ultra Lite soured me really badly, but this time I got a great accurate tool that will be deadly in the woods come Saturday Oct.1, 2011. Thats the day season opens here in Arkansas. The first TRT I worked for six days at 4-8 hours at a time and could just hit a 24"x24" block at 30 yards. At 40 yards a three shot group was one hit the block and two lossed arrows. I have been a gun hunter for over 40 years, I have shot on rifle teams that has won national titles but I would never have thought a crossbow could be this accurate. I set my first crosshairs on the Horton scope on 30 yards, the second will hit a quarter at 40 yards and at 50 yards I can put a three shot group in 1", what scares me is I still have two more crosshairs to go. I was a very disgrunted TRT Ultra Lite Crossbow owner from my first experence but now I have a great one that I am more than pleased and confident with. Look out whitetails, bears, turkeys or for that matter all small game also.  :goodjob: TREE RAT OUT AND HUNTING  :bbq:

Do not buy this crossbow.  I have had mine for 3-4 weeks and on my 2nd red dot scope and it's bad too. The dots go down at a angel so you can not sight it in.  Forget about customer service at Horton, there are none.  Waiting over a week for wither scope but deerhunting will be over before I will get to hunt.  Better choose another crossbow than the new ultra light.  It's the worse I have had.  Anone else? I know I can not be alone.

the rubber stoppers on the TRT are a little thin. every time your string slaps its pushing the rod through the center rubber.the replacement rubber stoppers from the original sts company bucks-n-ducks has heavier ones. limbsaver makes stoppers too.  if your rubbers spin just add a tiny drop of gorilla super glue and twist into place.as far as the red dot scope its probably a cheapo mass produced thing. i would ditch it for a Hawke map or Excalibur varizone scope for like 80$.

Badbow2, I am sorry to hear of your problems. :phew:  I too had problems with my TRT but it was the bow and Q.C. Issues. I too tried to get some help from Horton Customer Service, I GOT NO HELP FROM THEM!!! :growl:  I too Missed the last of hunting season last year because of jacking with Horton Customer Service. I got my problems solved but without ANY help from Horton Customer Service. If you will read my post (this one) from the start you will see what I went tru trying to get issues taken care of that should never have been sent out of the factory. As for getting a new scope well you should have a warranty on the red dot. I am sure you wanted a red dot or you would not have bought it. Now for the BAD NEWS. It is of my opinion that if you wait on HORTON to do the right thing you will for sure miss the season.. :thumbsd:  I sent my bow back to the company who I bought it from and got a whole new bow, scope, etc. but again I missed the season... The Good News is I got a good one this time and it shoots like a dream.. In fact my wife killed a nice 18" ten point that had 11 3/4 G3's with it setting on my stand. :goodjob:  My experence is DO NOT COUNT ON HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE. :notfair:

Well I'm back.. :thumbsu:   I hunted with my new TRT ULTRA-LITE this year and have killed four deer so far. Two bucks (a 11pt. with a 18 1/2" spread and a 9 pt. with 17 3/4" spread with 11" G3's) and two large does. My wife killed a really nice 18" 10pt. that had 11 3/4 G3's and a hugh 8pt. with a 20" spread along with a large doe with the same bow   . And we still have a month left to hunt... :)  Where we hunt we can kill six deer each. This TRT has been a dream come true but the first TRT ULTRA-LITE was nothing but a headache. :growl: The first TRT could have been handled by CUSTOMER SERVICE but WOULD NOT so I was out of a crossbow for the remainder of the season last year. .. AND HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOT CARE THE LEAST. I will never forget the way I was treated by HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE after I bought a NEW TRT with major QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. HORTON lossed a customer that had been buying only HORTON PRODUCTS for years... I went last week and bought my wife a new crossbow. I bought her a PARKER. :boxing_smiley: From my experence the HORTON TRT ULTRA-LIT when you get a good one they are REALLY GOOD... But by chance you get a PROBLEM TRT like I did, DON'T EXPECT HORTON TO TRY AND WORK WITH YOU TO CAUSE YOU "THE CUSTOMER" ANY LESS OF A HEADACHE THAN THEY ALREADY HAD BY LETTING ONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS GET  OUT THE DOOR WITH MAJOR QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES...

dama, You say animation makes it difficult for you to read my post ????? Well, if you had been a fly on the wall just after I tried and tried to get HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE to do right by me (a loyal lifelong customer) you would have got to see some REAL ANIMATION!!! I was extreamely nice to try to get HORTON to work with me JUST TO BE TOLD NO... IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS...Read this whole post and maybe you will understand some of what I was feeling and dealing with... Now again the second TRT shoots like a dream and is a powerful lite-weight killing machine... This is a fact!! But would I go thrue all that I did to get another one just like it ??..NOoooo!!!! What I received after buying the first new TRT pkg. for over $600.00 was a MAJOR headache, not even to say I missed the rest of the season last year because of it. And it was not anyone's fault except HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE. Folk's they hung me as a CUSTOMER out to dry with no recourse except the way they said it had to go... Guess what it did not work that way.!!.. That's why I am here writting this... I will never care less for HORTON INC. What I am trying to do is to inform the folk's who may be thinking of buying a HORTON crossbow to look and read my post for future customers and decide for themselves... It was because of Q.C. issues that this all came to be.. Sure, I understand sometimes mistakes happen and do.. But the way I was treated by HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE was DISRESPECTFUL and there is no excuse for it. As I said above the second TRT is wonderful. But again I just bought my wife a new crossbow... It is a PARKER CONCORDE OUTFITTER w/ Illum. Multi-Reticle because I will NEVER buy another HORTON crossbow.. IMO WHEN HORTON SOLD OUT THEY SOLD THE CUSTOMER OUT AND THEY SEEM TO BE ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR PROFITS....NOT THE CUSTOMERS. One year after I had to deal with HORTON on this issue and I can still feel the sting.!!!

SPECIALIZES, I see you are a Super Moderator and you say I have made my point. Well I joined this forum because I wanted to learn from the vast knowledge of the members of this forum and also read their opinions upon all things concerning HORTON. If I ruffle feathers well I did not mean to, but why are their feathers getting ruffled by me stating my experence. I think/feel I owe it to people who are thinking about buying a HORTON product to at least have the information from my experence if they choose. The rest is up to them and I would not want it any other way. I am speaking from experence and not from a opinion, at least untel after I had to deal with HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE. If I would have had access to a post like mine before I bought a HORTON TRT and had to deal with HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE would I would have done something different? I don't really don't know but at least I would have had some kind of warning. It's been my experence from MOST members on this forum that they are truely looking for a trusted source of information (from people who has bought, used and had experence) with the product they are intending to buy or have already bought. But also there are some that IMO try to WHITEWASH these problems WHICH do occure. I have often wondered if that maybe they are getting some type of benifit from Horton for that...I am not !!!! As far as feeling and understanding my anguish, my Issues are past but AGAIN I would hate for anyone to experence problems in the future with Horton Customer Service without some kind of warning...IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, ALL OPINIONS AND EXPERENCES are what makes these FORUM such a GREAT SOURCE OF INFORMATION.... NOT JUST THE GOOD AND HIDE THE BAD !!! With this all being said and being you are in the super moderators group I will go ahead and say what I feel. I have thought and felt that this thread would be pulled for sometime anyway. There are over 24,000 views and it tells a not so good way of the way HORTON CUSTOMER SERVICE treated "at least one" Customer. There has been no violation of forum rules what so ever at any time on my part. If there is a fairness the forum moderators this will stay up... IF not I will know my answer... And so will many other members..

All of this great info about the Horton TRT-UL has made me want to go out and purchase one.  The problem was resolved, although happiness may be another issue.  And, I am not kidding about purchasing this bow.  There is a lot of good info in between the ranting that has convinced me there is a lot more good than bad with this model that seems to have the weight and balance that I'm looking for.  After handling and shooting this bow and a few others over the weekend I'm convinced.
