I am from greenville S.C and thought about looking into shooting in some small tournaments. But i am having a hard time locating any info. Anybody got any info, tips and advice on whats involved would be appreciated also.

Depends on what type competition you want to shoot.
For 3D, check out the websites for IBO and ASA.
For spots, check out WCSA, NAA and NFAA sites. All basically use the WCSA rules for spots with minor mods.
