A few of ya'll sound like you take this way too seriously to be fun for everyone. Being I'm an unfair contestant, you know, from Texas and hunt hogs, I won't play if that makes it fair to the others. Count me out. I actually don't have whitetail deer normally, but got really lucky and found one in the past two years and took him. But it was truly unfair to the other contestants that I was able to count hogs and not everyone has those.
Like I said, don't have to worry about me playing along. I have more experience also and that's just not fair to the others either. I should have a handicap too so it's more fair.
LOL!
Oh yea, and some of the other teams had folks who hunted from wheelchairs and with cains and crutches, or were in the hosptial for chemo and surgeries ( like Ranger), so they deserve a head start too to keep it fair. Maybe give all those hunters a 500 point head start so it's fair to them and thier teams. Hmmm
Let's not forget some states don't allow hunting on Sundays so they need an advantage and those men who attend Church on Wednesday nights get one day less on top of that so they can only hunt at the most 5 days instead of 7 so we need to make that fair too. We can see who can hunt 7 days and who can only hunt a few and equal that out to be fair. Oh and some states have snow so they can't hunt when it's too bad. Maybe give snow days like school. Ha ha!
A few of ya'll sound like you take this way too seriously to be fun for everyone. I agree.
I missed almost all of my early crossbow season with a bad leg burn. But I did get to gun hunt at home and Killed two bucks. I didn't even get a buck on my Missouri trip. But who cares. This is for fun and kidding one another. Come on lets just have fun and Guide Girl stay and play. I enjoy reading your post. :goodjob:

You and GG got that right!! You would think there was a million $$ involved...Get real people this was all for fun and if you can't handle that than maybe you should sit out the next contest...like GG said there's no room for whiners around here...

By the way 721589, We need to see a DR's excuse for your leg burn or you won't be allowed in the next contest... :lolu:

BeerVO2, judgeing by that last statement, maybe you should sit it out next season. We're just trying to get things straightend out so it will run a little smoother and with no confusion next time. Theres no cause to be calling other members, whiners.

Well I certainly had alot of fun, even before the hunting began we all got to know each other a little better..with some light hearted smack talk.I think the whole idea of the contest was too have fun, with a little ribbing to go along with it.If you had an oppurtunity to be out in Gods great outdoors you were blessed.Take Ranger for instance..that man would have loved to have been out there this year, but wasn't able too because of health reasons...he even suggested maybe we should look for another teammate...our answer was ....ain't no way, because I was able too be out there this year I'm already a winner!!!!

I really hated to see some of the Teams come up short on their mates bailing on them. That was sure to have put a damper n strain on those competing. We can change that by having those that want to join but not enuff fer a full team. As back-ups fer replacement to those Teams that have members bail on them. Plus count their animals & give them credit fer their accomplishment. Also those members who bailed last yr can't be allowed to join any Team this yr.

I wasn't going to touch this post with a ten foot pole, but since I was one of those who didn't contribute to my TEAM'S TOTAL POINTS, I just couldn't let it pass. My teammates didn't hold it against me because I had no luck this year. I had loads of fun watching everyone post their photos and points. But maybe we need two separate contest. One for the serious ones with their set of rules made up to their specifications and the other for us who played for fun, with the existing set of rules.  There was absolutely nothing wrong with those rules and 99.9% of us had no trouble interpreting them.  All I see on this thread is a few hunters having problems with someone else at the reins.

I'd like to send out my congratulations to the Texas Team.  Good job.

I personnally don't hold it against anyone who joined a Team & tried to help. It don't matter if'en they got any game or not. My gripe is agaist those who joined a Team, then left them high n dry no pm's no nothing & they didn't have any replacements to take their places. I didn't do so hot in pts gathered by shooting several Doe's! I could have went down home in Ms. & killed several more Bucks if'en i was seriuos about my Team placing in the Top area.

Well said, Vixenmaster. As long as a member, tried, he or she is a winner in my book. I know my friend, Ranger, would have given anything to be out there. But he was STILL a TEAM MEMBER at HEART. Some just can't seem to understand what we're trying to say.

No problem!!! Let me know when YOU think, I can play again.. .
I just don't like to see other members slammed for not contributing when there could be many reasons for it, illness, death in the family, computer problems, loss of hunting lease or many other reasons..

I have been patiently sitting back reading all of the posts and trying to see everyone's point of view with the meanings behind them. Unfortumately I just can't agree with a few folks and that's OK because it's a free country and people are entitled to give their opinions. Some folks seem a little too quick to judge others as to commitment to the contest and activity while others are just being too critical in general. Now the ratio of satisfied versus disatisfied is seems to pretty one sided with most being happy in general with the contest and the way that it was run. I think that MOST people would agree that there may need to be some fine tuning in order to make things suitable for everyone. What we don't need is (and this is important) to have a bunch of overbearing rules/regulations where it makes the contest exclusionary, unfair, or just plain not fun because that will drive people away and effectively kill the contest interest all together. Sour grapes do not do the contest or it's contestants any good. Remember folks, this is supposed to be fun, entertaining, and promote the comoradarie in  sport that we love which is hunting. In all honesty, WHEN IT BECOMES A LARGE PAIN IN THE REAR OR LOSES IT'S FUN FACTOR, I WILL DROP FROM THE CONTEST AND NEVER ENTER AGAIN. I don't want to be like that because I have had a good time like others have just watching the successes, failures, stories, and pictures submitted by everyone and I don't want that to tarnish what the contest was intended to do. C'mon folks, I think this is starting to get a little out of hand and we need to re-focus here a little bit and not be so hyper critical. Ok, the soapbox is vacated.....next person please.

Well for those that want to hunt a contest next year that is for fun, we had one for any members of the TCHC and there was no whining issues, even for the fact that our Indiana member is the one who took all the awards in our Texas Crossbow Hunters Club contest. I didn't hear any complaints that someone not hunting in Texas, (and he wasn't shooting hogs) was unfair. SPEC didn't shoot one hog and he won Crossbow Hunter of the Year along with Whitetail hunter of the Year and Varmint hunter of the Year.

So, I invite ya'll that can join the TCHC and want to participate to please do so. ( and we had prizes and awards too!) Maybe you'll also be able to show up in person to the Annual meeting to get your award and hunt some hogs along with the other members of the Texas Crossbow Hunters Club.

The bi laws read you either have hunted or lived in Texas, or you can be a sponsored member if you will find a current member to sponsor you. We are a good and fun group if I do say so myself. Can't beat our members! The bi laws can be founnd on our site if you would like to review them, or just ask a current member for a copy.

Also, thank you all who were such good sports and congratulated our team for winning. That was very nice to hear that from our fellow contestants. It does show good sportsmanship, and what it should be about. Thank you!
