If any of you folks who like me, are stuck with dial-up access to the forum, here's a backdoor way to shorten the time to log on.  I'm so far out that my dial-up speed is between 19-24 kbs, half of what it should be, so it can take as long as 6 minutes to bring up the home page.  Since we can't watch video, a faster way is to log directly into the forum page by using http://www.crossbown...om/forum2  This takes a lot less time because you're not loading all the advertising and mb-loaded pics on the home page.

When you finish viewing, don't click out, but minimize the window [-] instead and that will leave it active. Then putting your computer in "standby" mode will log off your isp provider.  Later, to get back on, activate your dial-up, click the "Crossbow nation" button still active, and click the refresh button to see the latest posts.  Sounds like a lot of trouble but is way faster than logging in fresh to the home page every time.
This works for me, maybe it will for you.

It really doesn't matter than much. A slow connection vs a fast one. If both connections were clicked at precisely the same time:
A 250 KBS PC arrives in just over 1/2 second [.6].
A 400 KBS PC arrives in just under 1/2 second [.375 or 3/8] second.
The faster PC arrives less than 1/4 second before the slower [.225 sec.]
A quarter second faster is an insignificant amount of time. Try to imagine 1/4 second. A second is fast, a fraction is almost unimaginable. That's the difference. Not impressive at all when it's closely examined.

Just having a little fun ! LOL    Guess speed really does matter - sometimes.

Ha Ha Ha, now THAT was funny Big Bird.  Nothing like a little zing to spice life up.  Ya got me, I'm tempted, but I'm not going to pet that porcupine right now.

I sure did get a laugh, that was funny, but if I couldn't take heat I wouldn't be in the kitchen.

I've been on cable internet for so long I don't think I could handle dial-up.

Here's my cable speed test. Normally I get the page here in 1 second.

Even easier is to just scroll to the bottom of the forum and find the pull-down box that defaults to "CrossbowNation."  Click it, then select "IP.Board Mobile".  It will then load the "lite" version of the forum without all of the graphics and junk.  It will load very quickly, even on dial-up.
