A total of 5574 hunters attended the 2011 Spring Fish and Game hearings in Wi.This was a sparse crowd with a crossbow question on the docket.Full inclusion did not pass. The vote was 3017-1969 against. However on the positive side lowering the age to 55 did pass 2806-2198.A win for some but not ALL.Now the Legislature has to pass it to make it law.Personally i feel Wi. is headed in the right direction.Next full inclusion.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!

And, you are right ... the next step is full inclusion and will happen when the DNR and Wisconsin Bowhunters Association realizes the sky did not fall when more hunters started using crossbows.  The experience in Ohio (several years) and Virginia (several years) shows it does NOT decimate the herd like the WBA has been wailing about and predicting.

Keep your eye on the prize of full inclusion....Crossbows in the hands of fellow hunters in the WI woods is a nightmare for the WBH. NOW the facts about the crossbows will be passed from hunter to hunter at camp, at the club & at the local watering hole! Hunters will see the lies that the WBH has fed them for years. Full inclusion in Pennsylvania has been a non event! The woods were not over-run with hunters, the resource has not been adversly affected and the season has not been shortened! 55 IS a step in the right direction but do not settle. Keep up the pressure.....Keep the faith!

55 is a good idea. If a legislator takes it up. If not, nothing happens. To many things have been supported by hunters in WI at these meetings and nothing ever came of it through the legislature. We will have to wait and see if this gets the interest of a lawmaker. I dont think anybody expected full inclusion to pass.

Can someone tell me if there is a way to follow the age 55 change through the legislative processe or if there is a way to encourage a legislator to take this up?
This is important to me,but have little knowlege as to what happens from here?

Thank You

The best you can do is write your legislators and support the crossbow admendment 55 and full inclusion with no medical or age restrictions.  Your letters reinforces the work others are doing to get these proposals passed. You can also check with the wisconsincrossbow.com web page, join the Americal Crossbow Federation ($30.00), and the Wisconsin Crossbow Federation ($10.00) as these are the groups frighting for your rights. And now is really a good time to be adding your support.
