I am in the market for a crossbow target. The "horror" tales I hear about arrows sticking scares me. Also, I don't want to put too much pressure on my right leg/knee as I had a replacement in January.

1. Which targets can you pull arrows out of easier?

2. I have read NOT to use jigaloo on arrows if you have a polymer barrels. Is this true?

3. If so what can I use on arrows since I do have a polymer barrel (Wicked Ridge Invader)?.

4. Bar soap and vaseline for arrows?

5. Would a homemade bag target with hundreds (thousands) of plastic bags inside stop crossbow arrows? Arrow removal is very easy with either a recurve or compound.

Thanks From Colorado! Ray

yes, not used jigaloo or some silicone spray with polymer barrels because camo pattern are crack (peel).
I used Scorpion Venom on all of my CB.

Chap stick, the uncented unflavored kind works great on center serving and the track as well. For shooting into foam I wipe some spray car wax on the ends of my arrows and it works fine.
Barnett predator
Crosman teton
Excalibur phoenix
Horton super mag
Horton steel force
70's Barnett wildcat

Ray, I use a Morrell crossbow bag target because it is a two finger job to get the arrows out. I have had 4 back surgeries and this is the easiest target I found for pulling out my arrows. I shot a Tenpoint Carbon extra and at 345 fps the arrows only go in about half way at close range. I sell Tenpoint crossbows and customer's shot at it weekly and it is still going strong after 2 years. It is a little heavy for me so I have it on a appliance dolly to wheel it around on. For a discharge target while hunting I take a 25lb. birdseed bag that I stuffed full of wal-mart plastic bags and it only weighs a couple pounds and it works great.

The target I made with rags and heavy duty nylon mesh sack are definitley the easiest to pull from of any store-bought i've tried. But, for field tips only
Phoenix, Vortex and Cyclone; single shot rifles and handguns.

Our yellow jacket crossbow, or any out of the Bone Collector Series will work wonders on pulling. take two fingers and easily pull them out. Shoot me a pm if you have any concerns. Josh@morrell

You can by the 'Rag Bag' from third Hand Archery...stuff it with old blue jeans (with all metal removed).....I make my own using the blue jeans and old feed sacks.....

I also own a Morrell Bone Collector 400 FPS target...very easy removal of my arrows launched from a Tornado....Field Points only

I made a target out of 2 feed bags stuffed with old clothes and it works great I can pull out a bolt with 2 fingers shot from my 380. What I did was I put one feed sack inside the other, and stuff it tight with old sweatshirts/ clothing and then sew it shut with a draw cord out of one of the old sweatshirts. They are 50 pound sacks you can use 100 pound sacks if you want a bigger target but they get a bit heavy when stuffed. I'll try to post a pic.Attached File  059.jpg   311.43K   0 downloads

As far as lube for your bolts, I use spray "Armour All" the stuff they sell for use in the car.

Bolts slide out very easily, and the deer don't mind the smell as it goes away once it dries.

I have always used auto paste wax on my aluminum and carbon arrows. Wipe it off after it dries. I have some Armoral wipes and will have to give them a try.
