Does Barnett have a front/rear peep sight? I own a Penetrator and in my state we are not allowed to utilize any mechanical or electronic devices that attach to the crossbow for any hunting purposes.

barnett did make a diopter sight for the rear as i bought one just today from ebay.im unaware of what foresight would be used with it but ide imagine it to be a round hole as on target rifles however i have never seen one and this diopter came as a bit of supprise.

What state are you talking about?  Can't you use a standard scope without illumination?  Just curious.

We do make a peep sight set up for some of our bows, however the Penetrator, or any bow with the shoot through foot stirrup will not take the open sights. Thanks,

Sounds like Colorado needs to join the current century.  Now that I understand, you could add a rail on top of the scope mount that would have open sights/peep sights mounted on it.  Extend the front of the rail far as you dare for the front sight to get some sight radius.  Worse case would be to have about a 6 - 8 inch sight radius, similar to a pistol.

Check out some of the gunsmithing catalogs, Midway, Brownells, etc., you will find some there for target pistols.  Buy one of them, or take that idea and do your own thing.  Could buy a Picatinny rail, mount to scope mount, add sights to Picatinny.

It can be done, and without too much difficulty.

Good Luck.

PM me if you have questions, be glad to help.

Well now CO will allow the use of scopes, red dots and what nots on crossbows during the normal crossbow hunting season (rifle 1st thru 4th). CO will only allow the use of crossbows during archery season for Handicap hunters ONLY but with stipulations - hence the peep sight.

I went ahead and contacted these boys from Bad River Outdoors via email and the "Pres" of the company called me back. He sounded pretty cool. I'm slotted to send my Penetrator over for a peep sight install. I'll let ya'll know how it went and post a few pics as to what was done.

Okay so its been some time since I posted on this post but I have an update. Told ya guys that I'd send my Xbow out to the boys at Bad River Outdoors. It's been there for a short time and so the pres of the company called me today to express his excitement of utilizing thier Xbow sight to an "upper end" Barnett Xbow. So all you shoot thru stirrup boys (Penetrator, Buck Comm, Predator and Ghost owners) will soon see the setup these guys are doing. Sounds to me like the owner of the company is truely looking forward to adding the new 2012 lineup of advances slated to be added in on my Xbow front/rear sight project. If any of you have been to thier web site and has seen the built in range finders, then one of the new adsvances for the 2012 season is having one side dedicated to elk and the other side of the site is for mule deer. Built in range finders -- CRAZEE yes? If you don't know what I'm talking about check out thier web site at www.badriveroutdoors.com, just remember that they have not posted the new upcoming 2012 line. I'm hoping to create some new vids for $hits and giggles and introduce how beneficial this front/rear peep site will be. As soon as I get it back I'll start posting pics of thier work. Look for it - Ill be in touch L8r!

Hello boys!

I hope you guys are havin a safe and memorable hunt so far! Okay so I'm back and as promised I said I would share the pics of how my 2011 Penetrator took to the Bad River Outdoors Crossbow Front/Rear Open Peep Sight. Wheew! Thats a mouthful. So, the sight is dailed in at 10yds and 20yds - thats a given. The range goes from 30 to 60yds and identicly like vertical bow peep sights, if you stay with the distance between dots, the xbow will hit the target at 70yds dead on!

Now I was assured by the CEO ED and his techs that they took very careful notes in order to have sped up the fabrication time to a more reasonable time frame. So for anyone of you who is considering the option of BRO's front/rear open sight that happens to own Barnetts shoot thru stirrup crossbow, take a good look.
