HELLO:  While during the almost a year looking & shooting crossbows before buying, I shot 5 different axioms & about 20 shoots each, The dealers loved me LOL. But, I did end up buying a Vortex for me & a Ibex for the wife. The main reason we did not buy the axiom, all the excal's we looked at all came with a package, we are getting older & we liked the bigger lumi-zone scopes & the D-bar's & the thumb-hole stocks.

What I found with the axioms I shot was:
* After never owning a crossbow, I could hit a silver dollar size target with all the excal's I shot, incl. the axiom.
* The wife & I both loved the light weight of the axiom.

The only con. we found was by the time we added the cost of the bigger lumi-zone scopes, for a few dollars more we could get the thumb-hole stock models we liked.

Besides this forum, you can also try excalibur's forum at the web site, there are some members there that  are putting some axioms they own through there paces.

There are tons of choices out there in crossbows....with any you're considering, it would be best if you could get out and shoot them first.  That being said....I've yet to meet an Excalibur owner who regretted their purchase...rock-solid product combined with world-class customer service are a tough combo to beat

after owning a thumbhole i find the regular stock more comfortable. when you need to get to the safety or work the trigger and hold the string when changing out a string its a shorter stretch. i also got rid of the pads on the front of my bow to get rid of front weight. i guess i found out the hard way and prefer a basic bow with regular stock after a few years. those thumbholes look pretty though. also with the thumbhole stock i had to add the butt extender. LOVE MY AXIOM! cant go wrong. wish they made a exomax version with the light weight plastic rail.

Axiom is a great bow for the money. You won't go wrong with it. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Only thing I would add if I were to be shooting it a long time would be the string stoppers and some custom arrows.

This is the bow I'm thinking about getting.

Any additional first hand use reports would be awesome!

I bought one for my first crossbow and have about 500 shots through it with no problems what soever I'm very impressed with this product and can't wait to take out for a spin in the deer woods. Your mileage may very but I'm very happy with the one I purchased.

This is my first crossbow also, and I love it. Deadly accurate and very reliable. Tuned easily.

I've shot my Exocet 200 for 3 years, and love it. I set up a new Axiom for a friend about 2 weeks ago. The ONLY thing I could find about it I didn't like, was it wasn't mine! :cigar:  I wouldn't give a second thought about taking it to the woods hunting.

I have been following the Axiom since it first came out, and I can honestly say that I have yet to find a dissatisfied Axiom owner!

I realize this is an older post, but was wondering what you went with? I recently purchased a Axiom SMF Kit. It is a very good solid crossbow kit, the only issues I have had has been opperator not equipment. This thing is a blast to shoot, I am going to have to back off some, I haven't gotten an extra string yet, but I think I still have a bunch of shots to go before I will need one. I probably shot 40 to 50 times over the weekend, and wasn't there but for a couple of hours each day.
