There are some other crossbows I wish they would have thrown in the mix though.

I own a Carbon CLS and it's great.   it's not surprising it took top honors, but you get what you pay for here. Excaliber are great bows also and are Hortons and Parkers.  This is such a new delvelopment  that States are now allowing thses to be used. Here in Michigan it is simple, putting more hunters back in the woods.  They lifted a baitng ban that was a joke this year also.  They had no idea that farmers sold thousnads of tons of bait.  Taxes and fees made this a easy thing to do.  I still shoot mmy Mathews and I see an advantage using the scope on a crossbow.  30 yard shots are easily made with both bows  Crossbows are here to stay and anyway we can get young hunters and get old hunters back is a great thing.  Remember it's not the weapon ..it's the user and what they know how to use well that counts.  Great days ahead, keep you face in the wind and be safe.

Any time I see crossbow  test results from a generalized hunting magazine, I take it with a grain of salt:-) This one is no  exception. Did you  see the guy making fun  of  the recoil of the recurve crossbow? People that want and buy recurve crossbows know they  recoil more than most compounds. Their picks are highly likely  to have a large part to do with $$$$. JMO

So your hold, or by using your body changes the speed of the crossbow?  RIGHT

Using a Lead Sled on a wobbly table?  RIGHT

Shooting at a bag target just a few feet in front of the crossbow and trying to get accurate sound readings of just the crossbow? RIGHT

Measuring recoil and vibration in a Lead Sled?  RIGHT

Letting that poor little lady put her eye right up against that scope while watching and letting her shoot while saying "NICE"!  RIGHT

C'Mon MAN!  The credibility of this crew has to be questioned with the exception of Timneny.

I read this when it first  came out. Certainly solidified my decision to not re-subscribe to Outdoor Life for my reception room. As has been mentioned, this article is not informative to anyone who knows even a little about crossbows. Most of the crossbows that are leading edge ( read that performance/ price-wise ) were not mentioned. I realize that no article can please everybody ; but I believe, that very few crossbow knowledgable individuals will appreciate this article. They should have used a competent crossbow advisor in the construction of their testing and subsequent article.

Wow, how about the guy damn near standing in front of the cocked bow with a arrow in it while his mad scientist buddy fools with a clamp next to the trigger. Look real good and you will see the guys finger touch the trigger well, priceless. As far as the lady goes, Im just glad they were not testing a single shot 45/70.  :startle:
