I have my HHA Optimizer dialed in and finally got a chance to play with it for a couple of hours. That thing is bad arse! Now I just need a good target because I am burying my fletching. I will not own a crossbow without one. It's so quick and easy to dial in once you get your yardage.

I was thinking about that. Now that I have the Optimizer, I do not want all the clutter that my Tenpoint scope has. Any suggestions?

I'm not going to spend more than $200.00. I don't think a Zeiss will be in that price range.

$399 or under( I paid $300 when they first came out) and, there is no other variable scope in that price range that offers the optic quality.imo  Isn't that new Leupold 2x7 crossbow scope like $349?  Compare those 2 and ,tell me what you think about optic quality for a extra $50?  I like my xbow over my $2k rifles that I hope I never have to use for hunting again so ,I see it as my primary weapon of choice for hunting so, I invest.  I didn't know your price range, just suggesting, and since you already had won a FREE HHA from the contest you might justify the extra $200 saved to put some great optics on top of it.

Just suggesting a crystal clear scope for the money.

Good luck with your search and hunting...  that bi-polar thing kills me

I think you are recently married. I've found honesty and, humor has worked with my wife for the last 22 years. Try honey this would make me really really happy when it comes to expensive purchases.   She was really ticked when I got a xbow last year until she saw how I really enjoyed it. Now I'm going to get another for myself, one for my son and, a vertical bow for my daughter and, she's cool with it. I got real lucky when I said  "I DO"

Life's short- enjoy it while you can

I shoot right handed but I am left eye dominant.  I have used a couple different sighting systems and I have settled on the Aimpoint scope that I already have. Being a single dot with no magnification I can use it during the Idaho archery season.  I have a HHA Speed Dial on its way to me.  I am also looking at the vendetta rangefinder as an add-on down the road.  Are there any setup concerns I need to know about?  Due to the speed of the 165 are some of you setting 40 yards as your starting distance?

Hi Bulkness, we haven't heard from you in quite some time.  Your current setup weight is very similar to what I started with. I  used the 20 yard start point and, then shot the 60yd sight in. The 60yd sight in is what takes the time.  You have to work your way out to it.  I ended up using a tape that was down about 4 or 5 tapes from the fastest tape.  I just tried to find the HHA package to see what # tape I used but, can't seem to find it right now.  Anyway, You don't have to worry about outshooting the HHA tapes.  It works just great to the yard!

I have tape# X22 on my dial, since apples to apples, if you sight in your xbow @ 20 yards, place tape X22 lining it up by the 20 yard mark on the dial and, the 20 yard tape marking. Dial to the 60 yd mark, shoot @ 60 yards and see where you hit. This will eliminate all the work inbetween that is just guess work all the way out to 60.  Depending if it's a little high or low you can adjust tapes by using # x21 or x23, 24 ect.  This will save you some time if you are in a hurry.  I don't recommend using this method for any other xbow setup but, in this case it's the same bow shooting the same arrow weights and should be very close.

I've been really eyeing these things and I don't even have my bow yet.  They look like they could be a lot of fun.

Oklahoma, they are not fun... They are incredibly fun!!! I was using an old arrow that I use to unload with after hunting. I went from 20 yards straight out to 60 yds and I was inside the bullseye on the first shot. Tweaked my windage a little and I was dead on. Went to 33 yards and set the Optimizer and hit bullseye. Went to 44 yards and set it... Bullseye. Just make sure you have a good rest when shooting it at 60 yards because it is hard to stay steady. A lead sled or other type of sled would be good. It takes the human error out of the equasion.

C-T, I finally got to spend some time with my optimzer yesterday.  The information you give me on the tape numbers saved me a lot of time as you stated it would.  I ended up using #21 tape.  Using the non magnififed aimpoint dot at 60 yards is a little blurred but I was able to keep them in a 5 inch circle.

Can you or anyone else recommend a magnififed scope with only one crosshair or dot that would work well with the Opitimizer?

Thanks again for all your help,
Tony

See that's a trick question.  You didn't say how much you wanted to spend, crossbow or rifle, illuminated or not or, the magnification range. Forget Dots.  If your looking for a inexpensive scope$100-$200 look at a 3x9 bushnell.  I think for the money they have alot of models and some pretty fair optics.  If you want great optics look at a Zeiss Conquest 3x9. A month ago you could have bought one in the $350-$400 range.

Good hunting

Hello!

If you want a good scope for crossbow, good in low light condition...
Go with Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40. 100% shockproff...

My brother got Swarovski scope with input lens 56 (3-12x56) don't know wich model exacly...i was testing both in low light condition...both i had on 3xzoom and side by side...I was just changeing the wiev left-right (swarovski - bushnel)...and i tell you that: The bushnel owned swarovski in low light condition with 3x zoom. That was also confirmed by my father and brother, which are both rifle hunters...

I am from europe...And i got bushnell from USA for 100€ (+postage and takses) which is better in low light than Swarovski optic for 1000€.

Btw. At the moment i don't have bushnel on the hha, because i have not look at the eye-relief of this scope which is 5" (only DOA 250) - to much for my mounting rail. Just look at the "normal" (NOT doa 250 or doa 600) Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40.

I hope this helps!

Best regrads, milan.

This will be my.next purchase for the vision I think. Does it add much to.the scope height?
