I left home on August 26th to set up hunting camp. Opening day was September 30th. Because I had shoulder surgery in April and am considered disabled, I was able to hunt with a crossbow in Idaho. I have a Wicked Ridge Invader. I hunted hard the first two weeks of the season and killed a 4X5 bull elk. Hunting with a crossbow was just as rewarding as hunting with a verticle bow. I called for my hunting partners for the remainder of the season and we harvested 3 elk. Pretty good for an old guy!

Did you spot and stalk or hunt water holes?

Congratulations!! That is great!
Gee, I wish we had a huntable good elk population in Texas. The TP&W say their are 5 small groups of elk in five different mountain areas in far southwest Texas. Most likely on private or non-huntable state land. The last native elk in Texas were gone by the turn of last century. Not sure where these elk came from that are in Texas now. Off some rich rancher's property I suppose? Glad you got elk to hunt in Idaho.
