I just bought a HHA optimizer for my middleton.

I am sure that every install is different but my install raised my scope around an inch or more . so I taped on a hollowed out dowel and taped it on

the stock,  that scope I have is a fixed power leupold. very clear and has a high eye relief. which is causing some problems with accuracy. the eye relief will let me view from a couple of different positions and accuracy will vary, if I do not have   a solid plant on the stock .

does anyone have a better idea of a raised cheek piece for the stock. the dowel works fine now , but it is ugly as sin.

I use a raised cheek piece on all three of my bows, makes a big difference for me in eye/scope alignment.

Check out godagrip.com   I use all of their products on everything from my crossbows to rifles, shotguns, and pistols. I have one of the textured cheek pads on everything, and you can adjust exactly how much it raises the stock by where you place it.

I admire you for admitting the dowel is ughley, maybe I should thank you for not posting a photo, but, grassyknoll's looks like an infection! ) Covering my eyes :startle:
wish he had not done that o us! And the rest don't improve , either, wished they had saved our eyes
I realized most 'aftermarket stuff is all ughley!
Since I love working with wood, I would (get the pun)make one of sexy wood, or ask manufactor for a replacement

I just mounted a 42mm scope on my xbo that required taller rings to mount. Haven't tried this yet but the next time I go to a home supply store, I'm going to buy a piece of that foam waterpipe insulation. Some of them are split, so I thought I'd cut off a section and put it on the cheekpiece, maybe hold it down with the handyman's secret weapon. It will probably be about as ugly as your dowel, but if it raises things up so I can see through the center of the scope, I don't care about fashion statements.

I would like to see some mfrs address the adjustable cheekpiece problem, it is more critical than buttstock length IMO.

I think you all may be over looking something. Don't "rifle" scopes have a different parallax setting, that is a distance from the scope where if you move your head around the crosshairs remain on the same spot on the target? Again I am not completely sure but I thought rifle scopes were set at 100 to 150 yards and specialty scopes such as for slug guns, air rifles and/or crossbows are set for much shorter distances. And I thought you could ajust the scope for parallax with in some limit of range.

Back to the subject of cheek pieces, why not make or have someone make a custom stock made to fit with a higher cheek piece. Here is some that Agingcrossbower has made.

This would surely look and work better than the other bandaids.

Beautiful work, but unless you can be there for custom measurements and plan to stay with the same scope [and/or crossbow] the rest of your life, an adjustable cheekpiece is a great answer.  Here's an important quote from the owner of that stock/xbo:

"...it fits me like a glove. When I bring it up to my shoulder, and my cheek is on the "cheek piece" the sights line right up..."

When I firs got in to crossbows I put a rifle scope on my bow and it gave me fits. If I could get my head in the exact same place every time it hit where I was aiming which was rare the arrows would hit all over the target. Parallax was the problem I could put my eye up to the scope and move my head a little and the crosshair would noticeably move off the spot this was with the bow on a bench rest. As for a cheek piece some of the adjustable ones would be the way to go they can be found on some of the military surplus sights for cheep. With an adjustable cheek piece you can customize it to fit you and if you do change scopes or the height of the scope you can adjust the cheek piece also.

Maybe a Magpul PRS adjustable buttstock. It has adjustable cheek and butt plate.
