All,

I have been unable to use a compound due to a ruptured disc in my neck. I am going to try and get a permit sent in to be able to use a crossbow.
As a new person to the site, I am hoping to gain some insight on things that I find perplexing. I have never really understood why individuals, legislators, and some within the hunting community, are so hell bent on restricting the use of crossbows during a normal hunting season. At the end of the day it fires an arrow correct.
I live in The Peoples Republic of Illinois. I really don't know what to expect. If there are some members out there that live in this state I would appreciate some counsel in the area.
Thanks Have a blessed day

Not familiar with Ill regulations, but I'll give my opinion on why some in the hunting community are dead set against crossbows.
On another bow hunting site awhile back there was a survey done on opinions of crossbows. I don't remember the percentage, but at  least 2/3rds had a negative opinion of crossbows. Most believed that crossbow hunters take unrealistic long shots thereby wounding the animal. Those same folks probably wound a lot of animals too, just by being poor  shots with their choice of bows.

My attitude is to not listen to the holier than thou and enjoy your method of hunting as long as its legal.
