How many would be interested in a Crossbow Tuffman shoot. Nothing under 40 yards and distances out to 100 yards. range finders, Bi-pod or mono pods all accepted. For me it would be awsome especialy if it could be a course that could fit a golf cart!!

That sounds great, but you know what they say "GO BIG OR GO HOME". How about 40-100 yards, range finders, sure why not golf carts, but all free hand.

With a name like "Tuffman" why not keep it real or closer to deer hunting?  0-40 yards, off hand, NO range finders and from sitting/standing positions in the woods.  Real shots and real angles!  Quartering away and in, up hill and down hill.  From tree stands and blinds with all kind of crap in the way to shoot through.  Thats would be Tuffman!

Like a tactical or 3-gun style shoot with crossbows.

I agree with Xbowguy.  Something about the words "Tuff Man" and then adding range finders and bipods don't go hand in hand.

OK, Keep it as close to real hunting conditions as possible, trees, limbs, unknowns, up, down, whatever, up to 40 yards.

So is this something I should start planning for in 2012?  I would be happy to look into hosting this in Ohio and working with Jeff and Crossbow Nation on.  Maybe we could get some or all the manufactures on board.

Under 40 yards that would be boring unless you shooting slow bow technology. Lets face it if you have spent some serious cash {hopefully wisely} and have an upper end performance bow 40 and under is matter of maybe 3 inches. I have spent some time working on long distance shooting and it not because I want to shoot animal at ridiculous distance. Its because I enjoy trying to master some thing difficult. By the way I have shot compound bows in national shoots and place several times in the top 10. I can shoot. You can go to any 3D course and shoot a 50 yards under game. Thats not new. Setting up a long distance shoot would take a completely different setup for several reasons but it would be awesome. Beside my bolt might not go threw the target if its over 50 yards. By the way I have shot a PANDA BEAR on one 3D coarse that doesn't mean that I am practicing to shoot Pandas any time soon. :thumbsu:

I guess "slow bow technology" would have nothing to do with it if you use a range finder like you suggested.  Good luck with your contest.

If there was a 400FPS crossbow that i wanted to shoot that stayed together long enough by all accounts with a 20 yard sight in (cause that is where I am going to shoot my deer 90% of the time or closer) the drop at 40 would be a lot closer to 8 inches.

Maybe the challenge is in letting them get close so that a lot less things go wrong.  But your are correct.  Targets dont move when shot at and entry angles are no big deal either.

I use to shoot FITA, Olympic Style Archery with recurves at 90 meters and would never shoot deer that far but I guess I could cause I was good enough to hit Gold at that distance.

Why shoot supported?  That would be a Benchrest Match.

You do have me thinking about taking a good hard look at my Zero distance?

Okay is this a boo-hoo the the new guy ? Is it not ultra crystal clear shooting targets at extreme distance is a novelty? Zero distance fun? Using a range finder when you are actually hunting is a great idea. If anyone suggest using range finders is a bad idea I am extremely interested in that. I will start a poll.
