My GPS came yesterday. A Garmin, Oregon 550T. First impression is WOW! This thing is really impressive, topographic map of the whole US. Very easy to use right out of the box, haven't even watched the DVD yet and have figured most of it out. Can be upgraded with a more detailed topo map, and other maps are available too.
I had to take my old one outside to get signal, but not this one, it works in the house or car. Used it last night to track our trip to town for my wife's gig, then traced our progress back home.
Acquires signals fast, and holds them very well, touch-screen is a nice feature, and is very easy to use. I will of course do more testing with it this afternoon in the woods (soon as it quits raining). I think this is going to be a great piece of equipment!
Forgot to mention, it has a camera, you can take a picture, and it will show you on the map where it was taken. Mark it as a way-point, and go back to the same spot later. A great feature if you find an area of hot sign deep in the woods, and want to come back in the dark of morning to hunt.

Walked around my property this afternoon with this unit. It followed everywhere I went and left a great trail that would be very easy to follow. With my old unit, you had to walk 20 yards or so before it would correct you, not this one! It points you in the right direction even if you turn while standing still. This may be old hat to some of you, but I find it to be awesome! Took a picture of a sleeping fawn, and it showed me on the map exactly where she was.
