I do understand a school of thought that says "Some crossbow use is better than no crossbow use". However, I won't be celebrating until the crossbow is legislated to be the same as a vertical bow. I don't want to be hunting with my crossbow during the gun season; I honestly avoid being out in the woods at all during gun season. I don't like the sound of gunfire, and I don't like the thought of rifle bullets flying around that can still kill after a thousand yards.
Laws that are passed to give a group "some" rights, but not total equality, are often then used to block movements for actual equality. The argument goes a lot like this... "What are they complaining about? They can hunt with crossbows for deer, bear, predators, and most other game species! They don't need to have access to the full archery season!". Sound familiar? Well, that really doesn't give crossbow hunters cause for celebration.
Equal rights. Nothing less will do.

You are right Ekkie, just be aware that xranger will be back here to troll and twist your words around and turn them against you. Just ignore the dumass, he is a troll that has infested every crossbow website. He uses several different names also.

When you look into this bill, that organizations directors and their attorney appear to have actually worded the bill.
Like jimmy01 said in another thread, they should just call it the WBH bill

You know its funny you mention that. Its just not Wisconsin. The Bow Association here in Nebraska is all of 1,000 strong (note sarcasm), yet they managed to keep crossbows out for years just as all the other minority state bow associations have. They claim they are the voice of the states bowhunters yet IMO they are all extermist groups with a code of ethics they want ram down your throat. Its like a religion with those guys. I don't get it.
Anyway, fortunately the NBA's strangle hold in Nebraska may have finally been broken as it has in many states with the legalization of crossbows. Its hard to break tradition and traditionally the wildlife departments have worked very closely their state bow organizations especially when it comes to setting regulations. I think many states are finally starting to realize the bow associations no longer represent the "true voice" of the state's bow hunters, and membership numbers obvioulsy show that!!

Well said! The same thing happened here in Pennsylvania The UNITED Bowhunters of Pennsylvania with an ever declining membership (less than 3000 & falling) attempted to shove its minority agenda down the throats of the hunters of Pennsylvania. Luckly we had some people in our Game Commission do their OWN research and find out the FACTS about the crossbow & its inclusion! They did not just drink the anti crossbow kool-aid provided by the local anti hunter/anti crossbow bowhunters organization! We tried our best in Pennsylvania to keep hunting decisions in the hands of our Game Commission and out of the politicians hands! Once the politicians get their greedy hands into the Game Commission or DNR it becomes politics as usual and the resource & hunters will suffer! Once getting re-elected or political "pay backs" take over the resource and the hunters will take a back seat.
