A lot depends on your terrain!
Wider wheel width and larger tires are better for obstacles.
I have this one from Cabelas:

Deer tend to slide a bit going up/down hill.
Small obstacles are OK.
Side hills are a pain as the center of gravity is too high, big bicycle wheels would be better.
A third/forth wheel would make rough terrain much easier.
Obviously everything that will make it better will make it bigger, heavier and more expensive.
It is 100% better than dragging, especially a big deer if you have any real distance to go.
I normally hunt less than a mile from my vehicle and I just walk back and drop off my bow, backpack and heavy hunting outerwear when I retrieve the cart from my van.
