"Just an FYI for you guys... Jigaloo IS evil"

Jigaloo works great on aluminum anodized crossbow rails. I don't spray it in trigger systems, brush my  teeth with it  or spray it on plastic of any kind (read warnings).

For those who would like to know, the 2 Horton Crossbow have string that are different than any other crossbow in the industry.  They are not your standard 0.145" to 0.165", but 0.130"  So for those who would prefer a full capture nock, the only nock that seem to work is our V nock.  I personally do not like the V nock as a crossbow nock as the prongs are a little weak as it was design to fit the 22" series shaft for target crowd.  So for now, I believe our C nock will be the best choice if you prefer a half moon nock for this bow.  i shall know more when Jesse call me back from Viper X as I believe those strings are built by him.

I remember an issue with the butt stocks sliding off after every shot. My friend had a bone collector and ended up super gluing it in place. I believe that all hortons shared the same problem and the company was aware of it for years. Does anyone know if they fixed this problem?

Hey... I just went "retro" and bought a refurbed Recon and I wish I'd bought it YEARS AGO!! It's so purty... and if you love AR-15s / M4s this thing will make you pee in your pants... just a little... with its modular quad rails / picatinny rails and MagPul adjustable buttstock.  Mine is the version where all the metal, including the cams, is bronze / gold colored instead of the more common greenish / gray-black metal parts. It is a VERY good looking bow and even tho they first came out in 2008 (I believe) I would still put it up against any 2012 bow out there. To all you guys and gals who love the Vision as I do, do yourself a favor... if you have never seen or held a Recon 175... find someone who has one and beg them to let you hold it... Horton got that one right.

Believe me as well, the Vision is a winner!!!!Had no problems in the 2 years I used mine and killed multiple deer....Speed aint everything, especially wen that speed destroys your bow and then got nothing to shoot a deer with.......... :phew:

I am a firm believer in not shooting over 40 with any bow... before I got in a car wreck years ago I hunted with a 75 pound compound bow and with Excaliber fluted arrows I could put every arrow in a 50 cent piece sized hole at 60 yards. After shooting a doe once at about 63 yards and seeing how much the penetration had fallen off at that range I decided to keep all my future shots at around 40 yards. It doesn't seem ethical to shoot much farther than that just "because I can." There's too much that can go wrong with an arrow in flight at that range... it's also a matter of practicality around here anyway, I hunt in northwest Indiana and because of the woods, brush, the terrain, etc., most of the shots you can take are closer to 20 yards on the average. So, you don't need an elephant bow or 400 fps crossbow to humanely drop a whitetail at 40 yards or less and the Vision 175 was born to live up to that task. I can't even tell you how many deer I have shot with the Vision and had the arrow go completely through the deer even after hitting ribs, heart, etc. How much more "punch" than that does one need? I'm a big guy, 6' 2", 280 lbs., and when I was younger I always thought bigger was better and I was convinced that I needed the heaviest weight bow I could get because I wanted to launch those arrows at rocketlike speeds. Took me some time... and experience... to learn that alot of things in life, and in hunting, don't necessarily require brute strength for best results. In the end, I would probably really enjoy owning one of those high-end crossbows that can shoot blazingly fast... but I still ain't gonna shoot at a deer past about 40 yards anyway, so it's all academic at that point...

They told me when I was at Horton the end of April.  Unless something has changed, that's what I would expect.

Yep...still have my Recon.
Great little bow.  Accurate, quiet, small...and easy to store when not in use.

Mike... how long have you had your Recon? If you noticed my post above I just bought a cherry refurbed Recon from Horton and I am very jazzed up about it. Do you have any tips or advice for me as far as owning / shooting / caring for my Recon? Anything to look out for? Quirks, glitches? Do you use the flat-nock Fatboys that came with it or other arrows? I have owned a few Vision 175s since they became available to the public. It looks like the Recon isn't terribly different from the Vision as far as basic functionality... but figgered I'd ask a seasoned owner.
