I just got TAC 10 arrows.  I also have a pack of firenocks.  Problem is I can't remove the nocks  :lolu:  on the TAC 10 arrows so I have 2 dumb questions:

dumb: Anyone else ever have this problem?

dumber: How did you solve it?
Parker Safari Classic (150lb) Hawke MAP scope + 400 grain arrows = 326 fps
2008 Diamond Black Ice - 29in draw, 70lbs, "no peep", HHA Optimizer Plus = 249 fps with 429 grain arrows
2011 Telson (Scorpyd) 130lb - 19.75in powerstroke, + Hawke SR scope = 390.2 fps with 400 grain arrows
2011 TAC 10i - (vids coming shortly)
2010 TAC 15 (used) - (more vids coming shortly)

those tac 10 are really glue in.  So it is close to impossible to pull them out.  I would sell those arrow and get some aerobolt II in 24", problem solved.  Not cheap though.

Thanks Dorge.  I'll order soon.  I bought 3 firenocks for the TAC10/15 arrows - since it's close to impossible to get the old nocks out of the TAC arrows may I exchange the old firenocks for Aerobolts?

Sure you can.  The policy is you can exchange, and refund anything from me for 30 days.  FYI, Aerobolts do not come with any nocks.

Oh... then I'll just keep these 3 and order Aerobolts! I'll be in touch. Thanks.

Hi deerboy,
Sorry for the slow response, but it's that time of year when most of us are either hunting or busy with holiday preparations.

There should be two ways of loosening the standard nocks on the TAC arrows, one way is to just shoot them a couple dozen times. That usually nocks most of them loose, but in the event that doesn't work use a vise and clamp the nock lightly in the vise so it can't freely move or rotate, then using a sponge rubber arrow puller you should be able to tightly grasp the arrow shaft and apply as much rotational torque as is necessary until you hear the glue snap loose.

Regardless of how much torque it takes it will break loose sooner or later.

Your worst case scenario would be if the arrow shaft finally separated the carbon layers and the shaft broke. This has never happened to me, but I've gotten close once or twice. That would be OK because under those circumstances you could always send the shaft back to PSE for replacement, since all nocks are supposed to be removable in the event replacements are necessary.

If you are going to go through the work of replacing your nocks with "Firenocks", I would strongly recommend you purchase and install The Carbon Express CXL250 Bull Dog Collars before putting the new Firenocks in.  Once you do this, your nocks will be almost bullet proof and your back end uniformity will remain in tact.

xbow I really appreciate the response. The only issue I can anticipate is that shooting my TAC 10 arrows won't create quite as MUCH force while shooting as (I'm guessing) your TAC 15...and perhaps the glue won't be as likely to shear as quickly due to the g-forces of hitting the target.  I'll still try your suggestion though it's excellent!

I've been searching very hard thru this forum on more info on the TAC and I want my next mod to be setting up a good arrow rest...the vane tearing is driving me up the wall!!!  I found the excellent word document tutorial on "how-to" so in the next month or so I'll get going on THAT.  I'd really like to avoid tearing up the vanes in the first place as opposed to replacing them constantly.

Hi deerboy,
In case you didn't know or haven't seen the articles that have been published in this forum, you can purchase and use a QAD Drop Away Rest with a bracket that's been designed specifically for the TAC Series of crossbows. These arrow rests are the solution to a large number of problems that all stem from the Whisker Biscuit Arrow Rests that come with these crossbows.

My suggest is to read and review the article entitled "Lose The Biscuit" by RMBeach (Buzzard Bait) and make note of what's written. It will serve you well when the time comes to make a major improvement on your xbow.

Regards,

Xbow755

I downloaded that article to my pc.  Very informative. Very helpful.  ...BUT I think I would seek guidance from someone like yourself when I try this project.  These bows are technical marvels but require attention to detail and experience.  I still might consider the Aero-Rest as well by firenock.  Looks like a solid product.
