A friend of mine told me about a Bi-pod that was adjustable in height by squeezing a grip on the handle, the legs drop down if they are not on the ground or slide up if too high.

Anyone know the make?

Might be talking about the Primos models. I have one - they work nice, but as of late I've been using regular photography tripods in my blinds. Leave one in each blind, they are setup to exact height needed and are ready to go - crossbow or rifle.

I'm sure it's the Primos Trigger Stick. I use the monopod  model, works great! Quick and easy and silent. I would use the bipod model for stalking or rifle hunting.

To: rbylo1 in particular, and to any and all that could lead me to a very good regular photography Tri-Pod for use in my ground blinds:  Where to buy, and what particular model of Photography Tri-Pod are you using.....and if you happen to remember I would appreciate knowing the cost.

October, 2012 will be my first year with a crossbow, and I'll be hunting from ground blinds.  Pretty excited about it already....and want to be prepared by getting my act together well before the season gets on top of us.

Specifics would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you all in advance.

I've found photography tripods at garage sales and flea markets. Usually pretty cheap!

Muskrat - sorry for a late response, but Here's the answer. One that I use is a Cabelas brand - was $88, found it in their bargain basement for $18. adjustable height on legs and can control all directions of swivel easily. the other one I use is a "PROLINE" brand regular photography tripod.  bought it on Ebay for around $35.00. The Cabelas brand has a carry handle built into it's frame. I leave the main front window open my ground blind - my Kodabow rail sits perfectly on the tripod with the front of the bow resting on the bottom of the window.I don't even have to lift the bow to take a shot. The height is preset, and I can move it left to right because of how the tripod swivels with no sound.

rbylo1.....thank you for again for the 'specifics'.  Just one question.  I have never used a tripod, actually this will be my first year with a excal. phoenix.  I am hot on the trail of the tri-pod, but I would like to know what you did (if anything) to the Mount of the tri-pod.

As you know, the mount is designed for a camera or other such photographic device.  So, did you add a platform of some sort to the mount....or do you just rest the stock of your x-bow on the camera Mount and go from there?

It seems adding 'something' to the mount to add to a more stable positioning of the x-bow stock would be in order.  Hmmmm.  Your guiding hand is asked for once again., and thank you.     The Muskrat
