Hey Guys/Gals,

Please come over to "The Other Site" and help me set a bunch of people from Iowa straight about crossbows in the archery season.  Just the standard "elitest bowhunter" BS.

Thanks,

Let's just let all the the people who feel that way stay over on that "other site". They are entitled to their own opinion. No matter how rediculous it is. ;)

Ya know fellas, if we could just learn to shoot out crossbows in a vertical position we may just gain some acceptence. Well forgett that I just tried it and the scope is real hard to look through and it gave me a kink in my neck. I think I will just shoot it in the horizontal position from now on.

i say to each their own ... i love to hunt with my crossbow  (well i just got it this year)  and i plan on using it a lot as well as a compound when i can find a lefty  that suits me ...

talked to my brother about a week ago  first time we spoke since mom passed away 3 years ago ...
shown him a pic of my buck i killed with my crossbow  all he could say was "you used a cheaters bow" and continued to be critical of every thing ... it was not as big as his 10 point  buck .. this that and the other ... oh well !!

well the sibling rivalry still goes on  even though we are in our 40's  he is just one of those that when he owns it it is the best thing ever and has to point out the stats  and everything trying to belittle anything me or a friend has ...(i guess that is in his nature from being the first born and the only child for 5 years)

like i say to each his own  and i love my crossbow ...  and i will not down anyone for using hunting equip they are comfortable with ...  other than that ... let them talk  if ignored  they might see what kind of @sses they are being ...

just my hillbilly opinion ....

Different strokes for different folks.

However anything propelled is cheating technically.... if they truely want it to be a fair sport, they need to take a deer down with rocks and sticks.

I use to be one of those other guys..I have compound hunted for years till 2009 then I got sick and had to stop hunting because I could no longer pull a bow back.I sat stubborn for a year and a half .Then My  wife got sick of me sitting around and we went  and got my first crossbow .People just need to realize that there is more than just the Compound out there.I have been hunting for over 30 years and what just give it up?? I think not  ! Im really sorry I wasted a year and a half because of my ignorance and stubbornness.

Who cares. Seriously if you enjoy your life and what you do why would one care what someone else you don't even know or care about thing about your choices.

HDMann - This is exactly the testimony we need to continue the crossbow crusade!  A crossbow is indeed archery equipment.  It recruits new hunters and retains hunters like yourself that would no longer be able to hunt with archery tackle.  I understand it's just ignorance on their part, however, their ignorance has the potential to deter others from being a part of this sport that we love so dearly!  I will continue to fight tooth and nail until crossbows are legal in archery seasons nationwide.

Good Hunting!

I live in Iowa. I have been bowhunting for forty years. Started with a longbow, then a recurve, then a compound. I will be 71 years old next month. I have a lot of joint problems shoulder, back and elbow. My son got me a Tenpoint Titen hlx with ACUdraw for xmas. I hope I get a few more years to hunt.

I guess I have to put my two cents worth in on this one. First off, I think all hunters should be able to hunt with the weapon of their choice. Now for the Archery aspect of hunting, I think it should and could be included in all States hunting seasons seprate and including the gun seasons.  Wether it be crossbow or long bow or compound, should not matter, It is the skill of the Archer that really counts.  Sure crossbows are stronger, faster and more accurate with less skill than the long bow or compound but there are human conditions that limit which one can be used.  I personally am satisfied with anyone hunting with whatever they want to use. Every hunter should only be concerned with the game management aspect of the seasons, not the choice of weapons.  Here in Louisiana, we have a six deer per season limit,(three bucks-three does) regardless which weapon you use. I personally dont think we need to have that liberal of a limit. For most people three deer should keep meat in the freezer for a year.....Just my opinion.....Poindexter
