Looking to get a range finder and trail cams that arent to expensive. Range finder for bow hunting, doesnt have to read past 60 yards. Trail cam has to be ok in low light, but not night vision. Where i hunt i have deer highways and alot of choices for stand placement, but i need a better idea of the when they come through part. My request is a "what works for me", one and price up to 150.00 for range finder and 100.00 for cam. Thanks

For the price range you're talking about on trail cams, look at the Moultrie M80. They are very user friendly. I have had one and it has worked excellent for me. I bought my 2nd one this week, Walmart had them on sale for a $100.00. Use the Lithium batteries and it will last a long time. Range finder??

I bought the Nikon 8368 Riflehunter 550 Max-1 for under $150 on auction off Ebay. Normally priced around $250 & up. Has everything you need including figuring steep angles if you get up high in a tree stand. Good low light optics and has fewer problems picking out low reflective objects which was a problem with my buddies cheaper models. Works well in misty or light rain weather, which cheaper models have problems with like my buddies. The cheaper rangefinders do not do as well with the points noted above. The 550 also provides 6X magnification compared to 3X of other models, which puts it up there close to the very expensive rangefinding binoculars. This helps hunters interested in small game, in my case groundhogs. The 550 is also good out to 550 yards for rifle hunting and if you want further ranges they do offer models out to 1500 yards for a lot more money.  HTH

The Nikon Laser 550 - Rangefinder ( laser ) 6 x 21 (normally priced around $200) is a good model as well for your purpose which can be had for under $150 on auction. I figured if I was able to get the more expensive one for the same price, why not. Ebay surprises you at times.IIRC the only difference between to two models is the steep angle calulation mode with the 550 Max-1.

I got a simons 600 at walmart $118 works well and uses less expensive 9 volt battery that last all season. good reviews on it and seems to work pretty well in low light conditions.I've seen it on sale for$100 has better reviews than Halo.I also saw a Archerrange-Ranger finder at Wyvern creations for $43 dollers.I posted a topic on it to see if any body has used one .I am looking for a second Range finder for when my kids go hunting with me and thought this might be a less expensive alternative but haven't got much feed back on it  good luck

Yes I have a nephew that always says it's a sales pitch, when we talk about range finders that figure the up and down hill yardages. In other words it doesn't make a difference. How can I explain it to him that it does make a difference.Somebody please help me win this argument.!!
