I started looking at crossbows about three weeks back after shooting one.  I vasilated between compound or recurve, so I shot several of each and still could not make up my mind. I looked at Scorpyd, Barnette, BowTech, Kodabow, Middleton, and Excalibur.  I did so much research on-line that I was getting confused.  I joined this forum to be able to ask questions directly from long time users, realizing that brand loyalty might taint recommendations, but also knowing that I could get the straight skinny from most. I read all the posts I could on most of the bows I narrowed the list down to.

I finally limited my choices to recurve and concentrated on KodaBow, Middleton, and Excalibur. Next was to determine draw weight and arrow speed and the pros and cons of each. Calculations on arrow speed and time to reach target at 50 yards lead me to realize that the arrow reached the target 0.03 seconds later with a 330 FPS arrow vs. 350 FPS arrow and both ad more than enough down range terminal energy fro any North American game I would shoot.  Finally decided on Excalibur Vortex due to thumbhole stock.

It comes in Monday.

Thanks to all the information on this site
