I need some help. Saw short advertisement for a 2 blade mech broadhead that would lock in open position after blades fold out & blades will pivot in head while locked together. Also blades are sharpened on both sides so blades will cut during back-out from game. Same as Ramcats. Didn't catch name of broadhead & can't find anywhere. HELP!!! Am very interested in concept.

Maybe you're thinking of the Reign broadhead by EP hunting products?

Thanks for the reply s64 & bp. Its not the bloodrunner but it's close to the Reign. The Reign pivots correctly but the blades aren't sharpened on back of blade. Also I remember the add saying that the blades actually get wider when the blade backs out of game for a wider cut during back out. Somebody out there will see the add & reply. Thanks again!!

Are you talking about the Ramcat. (http://www.smokebroa...t_products.html) The mechanical version is called Smoke Broadhead They fold out and lock in place. If you don't get a pass through and the broadhead backs out the blades fold out.

I don't know of any that lock open. In many states they might be considered to be "barbed" and therefore illegal.

I have had great success with the Gator XP broadheads. Accurate, reliable (no bands or springs), and full width cut-on-contact entry wounds.

BUCK SLAYER...You-da-man!!! I knew someone would come up with the broad head on this sight. I hunt with the 125 scorpyd & I want to try this head. Thanks for keeping your eyes & ears up to date. Hope to see you join the SCORPYD FAMILY.

Haha thanks bro.

I only knew what you were talking about because I am VERY interested in these BHs myself.

You never know. I may be joining the Scorpyd family end of March/early April. ;)

They look like a Gator/Rage hybrid.

This item will be available in 2012. Final product may vary slightly from the image shown.

Personally, I'm not that impressed. Not only does it look like a banded head, but they're also only a 1½" cut....big deal.

I don't care if it's banded as long as it works.

Only 1.5 inch cut? How big of a cut do you need? ;) 1.5 is plenty IMO.

The description also sounds a lot like NAP's new 2 inch Killzone mechanical.  It looks very interesting compared to the Rage.  Doesn't need an o-ring.  I can't wait to try these out. Three types coming out this spring.

"New Archery Products (NAP) recently announced a new 2-blade rear-deploying broadhead called the Killzone. The archery industry has seen a growth in demand for 2-blade mechanical broadheads as the reliability and design of these broadheads continue to improve.
The Killzone has a 2-inch cutting diameter and incorporates new technology which allows both blades to open and work together in unison. This design allows the broadhead to gain maximum penetration while avoiding any single blade deployment or deflection upon impact or during penetration of the cavity.
NAP increased the reliability of the Killzone by eliminating the need for o-rings or rubber bands to hold the blades in place. The new blade containment system also prevents the blades from opening while in your quiver or even worse, prematurely in flight.    The Killzone is available in three models: 100 grain Cut-On-Contact tip, Trophy Tip or Deep Six. The Killzone is sold in a 3-pack of broadheads and includes a practice head. "   http://www.outdoorli...oying-broadhead

It could also be the Swhacker, has 2 blades that are short & sharp then flips outward on the other side of blades fer 1.75 on up 2.250. What a cut 2 1/4" of slicing steel!
