Just purchased red hot bolts w/100gr field points.  Shot my Tornado at an indoor x-bow shoot(3-D targets) and at the end of the shoot we shot thru the chronograph.  one guy shot his stryker at 376fps.  My Tornado shot at 310.  Will the supressors slow thte spped down if not adjusted correctly?  And if so, what is the proper setting for them?  It is a 2010 Tornado the red hots are out of the box w/2"fusions and a 100gr.tip. don't know what the weigh in at,but i'm certain someone out there in forum land has a good idea.  I love the x-bow but was a little confused after reading some of the other posts and seeing that mine is falling short.  Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

czechmate,
I believe the redhots with 100gr tip weigh in at 425.  Unless tornado requires 425 gr arrows it was probably specced with 400gr.  Even then shooting 400gr would probably only gain you in neighborhood of 10fps, maybe.  My Buck Buster 175 was shooting 338fps with GT Lazer II's but they only weighed in at 396gr.  I was not comfortable with that since spec calls for 400 minimum.  So I cut off the 4in vanes and refletched with 2in silent knight vanes and then added aluminum nocks for a total weight of 406.  I lost about 3fps.  So 10gr increase cost me 3fps, that is how I figured you may gain in neighborhood of 10 by losing 25gr.
As far as the suppressors, I don't see how they would slow bow unless adjusted way to far out and was stopping string before completion of powerstroke.  They should be adjusted so that they barely touch string when bow is fully relaxed.

I have a 2009 Tornado and added the string suppressors.  As Daddy-O said, they should just barely touch the string when the bow is relaxed, and should not impact speed unless they are installed such that they interrupt the power stroke.  I've never noticed a reduction in speed, and the POI remained the same after the installlation.

Thanks for the information.  That is exactly how I have them adjusted, so I guess I will weigh the bolts and find out what they weigh and go from there.  I too shot the laser II, but always come up short of the 400gr. recomended so stopped shooting them. Thanks again.

This is the rule for vertical bows: "You will lose 1 fps for every 6grs increase in arrow weight."

Not to hijack this thread but I was wondering if any of you guys that have the string supressors installed have the center serving lengthened so when you fire the bow the center serving hits the supressors not the string ?
