I have read through many posts here on the Crossbow Nation and have learned a lot. Many thanks to all the posters.

Just getting started with crossbows since I have a herniated disk which prevents me from shooting my compound bow. Have hunted for many years and enjoy the sport much.

I already made a major newby mistake by getting my thumb in the way of the string. Didn't realize what a crossbow would do to your thumb. I don't think I will make that mistake again, but to make sure I ordered a thumb guard off ebay for $5.00. I may have to make some modifications to this guard, but for this old man, I don't want to go through this again. ;)
