A friend and I have been looking at crossbows since November after I borrowed my Dad's crossbow for a hunt in October and got the bug.  He has a Barnett Quad 400, and while the price is right and the speed is more than most bows out there, I was looking for a little more.

We've gone most everywhere around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area shooting crossbows and finally found the Stryker 380.  It was lighter, faster, more compact, and quieter than most anything else we'd shot.  To be fair, however, I can't see spending over $1000 for a crossbow, so we never even shot anything in that price range.

We saw all the reviews and talked to a lot of dealers about the limb issue.  They assured us that Bow Tech had changed up the limbs (all black now instead of the original camo patterns) and the problem "should be" solved.  Basically, it sounded to us like they'd got a bad batch of limbs, were doing their best to correct the problem, and felt confident they'd resolved the issue.  So, while a little cautious, we were still interested.

We started shopping for the best prices about 3 weeks ago.  Eders, Poor Fish, and a thousand other sights.  About the best we'd found was just over $600 and vowed to drop the hammer on the first one we found for $600 or less.  As luck would have it, we were in the Fort Worth Cabelas Sunday to shoot the 380 once more.  Not seeing any on the rack, we were told that they had been moved to the bargain cave.  Turns out, they had returned all theirs, had the new limbs put on them, and put them in the bargain cave when they got them back.  So, the $749 Stryker 380 was now marked down to $488.  Counldn't believe it.  We both bought one.  Oh, and the 350 was around $425.

I don't know if this is the case at every Cabelas in the country, but if you live near one, I'd definately call and ask them.  I only wish I had the money to have bought all of them.  I'd say they probably had 20 total, with half being the 380 and half the 350.

I know this is a long post, and I appologize.  But we've yet to shoot them outdoors and I was wondering how far you guys have been shooting them.  I know that my Dad's Barnett Quad 400 will shoot out to about 70 yards with the scope that came on it.  I'm guessing this one may shoot out to 80.  I'm not talking about deer ranges, though I'm guessing a 50 yard shot at a deer wouldn't be unethical.  Just looking for thoughts.

I have to say that I am addicted to researching on the internet and have been wanting to buy a crossbow for a while now.  I am the luckiest man because I just got back from looking at buying some land on a 1000 acre archery only hunting ranch (Crossbow Ranch near Meridian, TX) and the wife is all about it and wants to get it but only wants to shoot a crossbow.

I have to say thanks a bunch to Moon for all of his knowledge and a big thanks to verne for the heads up on the strykezones at cabelas.  I am in the Navy and stationed in Va. and called the Fort Worth store and gave me a 10% discount for military so I got the 350 for $376 including shipping.  So did I only buy one NOPE I ordered two for $752 delivered to the front door.  I can't tell you how excited I am now.

Moon has a whole segment on the modification of putting these on, thanks moon.

No problem Tombob.  Funny thing is, I never even knew about this sight until I bought the bow.  Figured I'd start out by telling everyone here about the deal in case anyone needed one.  Looks like a few did just that.

Was this a bare bow price or did you get the whole Strikezone package?

Randy, we already talked on the phone about  the ACCUdraw 50 install on the Stryker 350. The only tricky part was to find a way to secure the "T" handles when not in use. Now that I've done it once with the 50 and once with the ACCUdraw crank cocker, the second time aroundwouldnotbe bad. I have a second 350 coming in to use it for a test bow to play with so as not to mess up my 350 hunting crossbow. That baby is ready to rock and roll :P I will be mounting a ACCUdraw 50 on that one too. I hope Stryker eventually gets around to offering  a built cocker option.

Don't the T handles store inside the accudraw box with magnets?
