Anything you can spray on a blind to make it more water proof?

If you're talking about a popup, get some tent waterproofer and spray on it. Let it air out, the smell stays around a long time. If you're talking about a box blind, regular exterior latex will do the job. That's what I use, plus I staple a sheet of plastic to the top. Lasts all year, plus a big roll is inexpensive. Or you could go with the ultimate waterproofer and seal the whole outside with blacktop driveway sealer.

I have a pop-up. So they sell tent waterproofing sprays. I'll have to look into them.
Any particular brand that works better?
Thanks.

HH, I haven't used it in a long time, but I would think that Coleman or someone like that would make something that would be good. I used to buy silicone waterproofer by the gallon to spray on our log cabin, and I used that some on the tents. The smell goes away pretty soon with that stuff, it was water thin, sprayed it on with a pump-up garden sprayer, but the best kind I used was the kind they waterproof canvas tarps with. Only problem was the smell lasts forever, but given enough time, they get used to it. You might even spray a tree near where you plan to place your blind a month before you do so they'll get used to it.

When I look up in this blind, I can see larger than pin hole size opening, which surprised me, but then again, for the price what do you expect. Works fine and am happy with it, specially since I can stand up in it to stretch the back. I would think the thicker the application the better even with odor problems. If I spray it when the weather becomes warm again and let it set up I would think that would work. The deer in my area are quite use to human smells.
The kind they waterproof canvas tarps with interests me the most. I'll look into brands and see what I can find. I assume perhaps these are more concentrated silcone mixtures and maybe they give you the silcone content?

I have used Thompsons water seal on canvas on a old pop up camper it works about the same as the stuff you buy in aerosol cans for tents.Nether one made it waterproof but it repels the water causing less absorption and less dripping. If you have pin size holes it wont help because its thin like water.I would probably buy a camo tarp and cut it to fit just the top and put some new grommets where needed and bungy it to the blind. It might be loud inside when raining but you could put some leaves or grass on top to help.

Go to Walmart and look in the outdoor supply isle. You will find spray on waterproofing for tents there.

If it's holes and there not too big you can use a small paint brush and clear silicone. Get inside the blind during the daylight to locate the holes and have a friend on the out side mark them with a sharpie then put a small dab of silicone on the brush an spread a thin layer over the hole. If it is just the blind is weeping when it rains then there is a silicone spray that's used to water proof boots that works pretty well. I have used both methods with excellent results just leave the blind out side for a few days until it has dried. I used the stuff from wally world for 3 or 4 dollars a can and it only took one can to do the top of my popup. I forget where I saw it but some are just painting the blind and calmed it worked. I have a old popup I plan to try the camo paint on when it warms up some.

Anyone try Starbrite Waterproofing & Fabric Treatment? Seems to get great reviews. It is a petroleum base product with UV protection combined. It is smelly and sounds like you need a respirator mask to apply it. Most are saying it is best to apply it with a roller rather than spraying it. Would need to seal all the seams with a good seam sealer it sounds like.

as far as water repellant goes you have to be very carefull. some will have chemical reactions to the fabric, dyes, and may deteriorate stitching thread. for the best with the least risk get 303 Fabric Guard that is made for boat canvas. it is best used in the summer months though, just like any repellant to get full cure. as far as the pin holes goes they will not be a problem once the repellant is applied. even though you can see light through the needle holes water will not pass through using a quality repellant. one thing about the 303 it will help the camo resist fading and deterioration from UV rays.

This post jogged my memory, I did try Thompson's and it worked good on the tents. But the key was thorough saturation, something you're not likely to get out of a spray can because there may not be enough for thorough saturation and repeated application. Probably will need more than one application to do the job right. I used a pump-up garden sprayer; takes no time at all.
Drobzone's idea is a good one; you could just use some of your wife's nail polish and brush over the holes. Test the reaction to the fabric 1st though. Better get a note from the boss 1st before you run off with her polish.
