I purchased the new Caldwell DeadShot FieldPod... it's a portable bench rest advertised for Rifle and Crossbows. I use it for my crossbow and it works really well, very portable, light to carry, folds up and comes with a carry strap, swivels in 360 degrees, tilts up/down. (if you're handy, you could make the same thing out of an ordinary camera tripod. It'd be heavier than the Deadshot however).

Anyone else try this? Bought mine on line. Increased my accuracy very much. As I'm new to all things crossbow, I hunt from the ground. Put a bit of camo tape on it, snuggle up to a tree and you're a ready Freddie! Am making a Ghillie suit for further stealth, now just got to get ride of my human stink.

Good Lord, I'm havin' fun... ain't put anything on the ground yet, but smilin' as I play!!

I made one from an old antique brass camera tripod. It extends to 4 feed and down to 1 foot.Taped it up with camo duct tape. Very light and free too! I'd post a pic but I'm on a tiny notepad and can't find the dam slot for the memory card. :growl:

Cabelas sells both, theirs, and the Caldwell... if I'm viewing the Cabelas pic correctly, it looks like Cabelas is just the top half of a reconfigured DeadSpot that fits a standard camera tripod. The camera tripod would provide 360 pan and up/down tilt. Either one looks okay, I just like the steadyness these provide... looking through my scope there's no "hovering" around the aim point so you can concentrate on squeezing the trigger in a relaxed manner!

Yes, that's available thru Cabales, and apparently other places as well... it's the Caldwell DeadSpot FieldPod.

Rock, it's pretty sturdy. I crank my tilt down so that I have to move it up, or down, to set my scope crosshair on target. You can then take your hand off, so that you're only touching the trigger of the crossbow... leads to a very relaxed steady trigger pull. I wish there were detents on the tilt function so you could secure it a bit more. I shoot left handed. Sometimes I gently place my right hand on the ballance point of the Deadspot. This way, my hands/fingers are never close to moving strings.  ( my Wildcat is head heavy so my balance pt. is a bit forward)
