Among the CBs I'm considering for purchase I'm thinking about the Excal Axiom package.

The bow will be used first for 3D and for possible hunting. It will be a first bow. I plan to purchase and add the Excal C2 draw assist to the bow.

Opinions?

If you call what your crossbow shoots a bolt instead of an arrow Urban Legend will have a quarrel with you.

I have actually upgraded my estimate of what I am willing to invest. Rather than going for the entry level I'm thinking of getting the Exocet instead.

The Exocet pumps out bolts at 330, the maximum allowed under ASA rules, vs 305 for the Axiom or the Ibex. The Vortex exceeds the 330 fps barrier so I'd have to either use a heavier bolt or be outside of the rules. While we don't chrono the guys at our club I may want to participate at other shoots in the region.

E'cet is capable of 330 fps with the FFF string thats an option & using an arrow of 350 gr total weight. Good solid Excal model

The exocet and vortex are both 200 pounders, so the vortex should fit the bill for what your lookin for. I recently purchased a phoenix and its been awesome!!

In the latest listings the Vortex is upgraded to 225 lb. I'd be satisfied with the 200 lb model. I want to be sure that I'm not breaking the rules.

I'm pretty set on Excalibur. There are designs out there that are great in their own way, but Excalibur has been in this for some time and thought things out so they are simplified. Simplified to reduce the confusion. I'm sold. Now I just have to order one. Let you know what I wind up with.

My mistake. Not sure where it came in. So the Vortex is now my choice.

Hey not a problem, i thought i had slept half the yr & it got by me. The Vortex is much more user friendly than the 225 Beasts imo. Less serving wear adds to less costs fer more practice & enjoyable shooting time. Plus you can cock it more times before wearing out, i had 2 of the E'cet 200.

Either way I'm convinced that I'm entering into ownership of a great product line from people who care about what they put their name on.

I've had my Vortex since they were first introduced, every year when I re-sting and do a couple of practice shots, it's always dead on accurate. When I do put on a new string it's only 1/4 to 1/2 inch off zero. Amazing quality engineering in my book. You will never 2nd guess your decision on Excalibur and the Vortex.
