Hi everyone,
I'm new to crossbows, but I've been an avid hunter with rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun and compound bow for many years. I've been wanting to get back into bow hunting for some time, but shoulder surgery and some "minor" nerve damage have prevented me from doing so. Recently, Texas has allowed whitetail hunting with crossbows and I couldn't be more pleased. I recently ordered a Horton Tacoma Trac-150 and cannot wait to start shooting. I work a 14 on/14 off schedule out of state and it was delivered today. Unfortunately, I am at work right now and won't get to put my hands on it for another week, but I am really excited about getting started. I managed to get pretty much everything I need to start shooting right now and hunting when season comes back around for less than $400 and was really stoked about that!
Anyway, I've read lots of extremely helpful information on this site and feel confident that I will be able to "hit the ground running", so to speak. Thanks to all that have shared their knowledge and experiences. Thanks in advance for upcoming information. Glad to be a part of this community.

welcome new guy!
why wait so long to do actual hunting? no doubt you know our texas is full of feral hogs, for free if you have a buddy with some land, hogs are everywhere! ofered to share 50/50 with owner or 'tell him you can try clearing his land for a fee! :thumbsu:I had a fotball buddy from HS and we re met at a reunion, found out he had a ranch near cedar creek lake , before he sold it recently  (3 weeks ago), we both setup a one way trap door and a corral , sine we are both too old and fat to actually run after with dogs, we just baited the cage and checked it to see  if we hand any! we got a total of seven(7 and his cusin kept last three(3), I got first four(4)  hogs
Yes, do get in lots of practice, but, don't wait so long to do real hunting for wild hogs
Friend liked to shoot hogs with bow and arrow, I jus shot mine , so no suffering for hogs since I wanted to butcher them for freezer!Allothers will feel my bolts, homemade
looking to relocate my trap  soon

Thanks Lrodshy.
Yes there are lots of hogs in Texas!! I've taken countless pics of them on my trail camera, but I've only seen them during daylight a few times in the 20 or so years I've been hunting. They all bed during the day in my area, so we usually hunt them with dogs. However, I am certainly not opposed to sitting on the feeder at night with NVGs...LOL!
