Been hunting for most of my 56 years and have concentrated on smokepoles for deer over the last 30.  My son put together a TC Encore .38 this last year that I also used deer hunting.  I did some archery hunting probably 25 years but broke my left thumb back then so I kind of lost interest in it.  I've been wanting to pick it up again over the last couple of years but tore a tendon in the left thumb, had an arthritic bone removed same thumb and then proceeded to tear the rotator cuff in my left shoulder last year...so I knew that I if I wanted to take up any kind of stick shooting it was going to have to be with a crossbow.

Just picked up a Barnett Wildcat C5 this week and have been working with it over the last couple of evenings when I get home.   Not to bad out to 20 yards but then it seems to drift off to the left when shooting further out.  Only have a couple of bolts that I've been using for now so that takes a little more time.

I want to take this on a hog hunt or two, along with using it on deer too.  I'm sure I'll be asking all kinds of "newbie" questions so please bear with me!

Maybe we can start a thread like the scene in Jaws though!!!!! If we like to talk about battle scars/injuries......I got stabbed in the arm once,I really did but it never hurt me from drawing a bow!!!!!!....... :zoro:

Welcome!

Don't be afraid to ask noob questions (I'm a newbie as well). Everyone on this forum will be glad to help. Besides even the veteran xbow shooters were noobs at one time and needed help right?

Injuries were not the only reason I picked up a crossbow...over the last 25 years between work, kids and extra job (and injuries ;) ) I just never really had the time to properly use and keep up on a vertical bow.  But the one of the big reasons that made the decision was that Indiana has now made crossbows legal for all of their archery seasons.

Thanks for all the welcomes too!!!
