The way I understand it Hawke Currently has 3 xbow scopes available on their site:
XB30 - 1.5 - 5X (variable magnification)
MAP - 3X (fixed magnification)
SR - 3X (fixed magnification)
However Rex informed me that Hawke is updating the MAP and SR to be variable power as well (1.5 - 5x) this year.

I'm not familar with the scopes in question.
The 1.5X - 5X scope I would assume is a variable power scope that can be dialed from a 1.5X power setting up to a 5X power setting.
The 3X scope is not variable and the power can't be changed. Meaning you only have the 3X power at all times.
If you were interested in hunters experience with both types of scopes, I'll let that up to others.

Yes, they have both the 3x and 1.5-5 on the price sheet. Thanks for the info. I have the 3x map now, gonna go with the 1.5 map or SR for the Vent.

The variable magnification is the result of the speed dial setting 360fps/5x slower fps/less magnification. Moon is well experienced with the xb30 that weighs 23.2 oz but, has really good glass for ~ $200. I use a Lumizone and, a side by side with the SR the Lumizone looked better/brighter/clearer to me. The Lumizone is a disc. product right now with very good deals out there. There is a new replacement for it called the Twilight DLX 3-6 X44 30 MM tube illuminated, and 300-400fps dial.

What price sheet are you referring to and where can I find it?

Hi Buck Slayer, That didn't last very long. At the end of the season there were many $99 offers for it. The best I could find right now is $135. For that I would look through a Twilight and, you might want to research the Accushots 3-12 that the Tac guys have used. I think they have a new Accushot or different scope coming for this years models. I just looked it up, I've seen a Hawke 2-7x32 listed for 2012 Tac-15 models if that kind of scope may interest you. I'm sure there will be some reviews of it in the early part of this year. Since you like researching, check out the PSE post on HHA optimizer speed dial (page3) from 8/2/11 to understand different kinds of scopes and, how they perform when magnification changes. It's been a real challenge to find a quality scope that has higher magnification options for xbow use.
