I have read a few posts about guy's wrapping braided fishing line or thin wire around their mechanicals to prevent them from opening. I read you get one or two shots before you have to retie. Do a search in the archives, it's in here somewhere. They don't penetrate your target near as much. :thumbsu:

Are you saying the broadhead pulls out in the target. If that is what is going on then you might consider pulling the inserts and re-gluing them with two part epoxy. Also You might want to think about getting a block type target made for broadhead's. Bag targets will get torn up in a hurry using broadhead's. If you are wanting to see if the broadhead's are opening up in flight setup your target with a piece of news paper 6" in front of it. When you shoot through the paper it wont cause the blades to open. You will be able to tell if the are open before they hit the target.

Thank you..i like the news paper idea..and my question was how to test sighting the broadhead..i m new to xbow , and i remember it was very hard to pull the opened broadhead inside the target when i try it with my compound bow.

Hello aino61  The Rage broad heads come with a practice tip also. You should also no doubt use a foam
block target.. And like the one fellow said dental floss should work. And again the paper is a great test..
What kind on target do you have my friend??

Check out the block type target at wally world I shoot 4 Blade Muzzy's in to it and it has held up fairly well. I do turn it every few shots. Shooting mechanical practice heads in it may hold up longer. I will say sometime the arrow was a bear to remove if I didn't use some lube on the shaft and sometime the arrow would sink up in the target almost to the vane. Also if you have a tractor supply or other farm store around you can some times get block foam they use under the hubs to ship trailers. I have shot them in the past with a vertical bow and they stopped the arrow but that's a vertical not a crossbow. Sometime they will give them to you for free so they don't have to throw them out.

Rinehart make some outstanding foam. I have also used Morrell foam with modest results.

Thanks for the tip!!  I just picked up a crossbow for the first time this week...been running fieldd points through it about every afternoon but wasn't sure I wanted to start tearing up my new foam target with the mechanicals that came with it.   Used a double loop of dental floss and tied it around one of the mechanicals with a surgeons knot-held up for a couple of shots each at 10, 20 & 30 yards and looks like it might hold for a few more yet.
