I was at Dicks the other day and saw a self climber type tree stand for $60.00. Its made out of aluminum and looks pretty good. I love ladderstands, but I couldn't pass this one up. I use to use self climber's all the time...when I was younger!!
If anyone has used one or heard bad reviews on this stand (ie, not safe) , please let me know before I bust my fanny climbing the thing!
Here's a couple of pics.

Sixty dollars for a climber? Keep us posted, but don't climb to high until you are sure of the quality and stability.

Specialized  I have one Almost just like it.I think its the next model down in price. The frames look identical only the seat is different mine isn't as fancy. It is the field &stream pro series prime time light. The box says 21lbs.Ive used it at least 10 times and it seams to work very well. Its never slipped on me or given me any reason to call it unsafe.I put some thicker back straps on it  made by F&S.I payed $149 for mine and thought it was a great deal.$60 wow  looks like I'm going to Dicks to see what they have left.

Yes, That what it says on the box, Field and Stream Pro series. It looks well made. They only had this one in stock. The manager says they sold all the treestands out at a real low price. This was at Dicks in Mt Julliet, TN. Thanks for the replies, I'm usually on the other end of the stick when it comes to deals.

For $60 it was probably made in China (and we know about Chinese products quality problems). I've had bad luck the last few years with their junk, whether it be an expensive Moen faucet or Werner ladder. Just make sure you use a harness with all the fixins....

Just as an FYI from a safety point .  I always take a screw in step and place it at the bottom of the straps --This way I know that should the stand want to slip -it can't till I remove the step.--Good Luck heck of a deal

I have that very stand but I did not pay only $60 for it.  I love the stand and have had no issues with it in three  years.

Thanks everyone for your comments and for the reminder of safety. I have a very good safety harness and will for sure use it. I like this stand....I think its going to be a goodun.  I'm a "Big Chicken" so I plan on racheting the upper part to the tree...just to feel a little more confident. I never use to do that, but I ain't young anymore !
Thanks again, David
