I was out shed hunting today and came across an old line of telephone poles.  Everyone of them was rubbed over the years.  Check this out.

Hummm. There seems to be the potential for another variable. Squirrels other rodents eating?

Hey, a Model 12 Winchester. I've got the 20 gauge version. It's always been one of my favorite shotguns

By the way I have seen something similar and watched squirrels chewing away at it.

I can guarantee my rub is not from squirrels. You would see teeth marks anyhow.  I took this picture from the same woods the Hole in the Horn came from.  Big bucks and old genetics.

I've seen posts like that where I hunt here in NE.  Its a private forest that does control hunts.  They have trail marker posts at the trail intersections, everyone of them look just like that.

As regularly used as that pole appears to be, I believe I'd have a stand somewhere near enough to hunt that deer.  Youngsters don't leave that kind of sign.  Wow!

Hardaway,

Thats not A deer.  Thats many bucks over a period of years that use the same post repeatedly.  Not sure why they like posts like that, but I have seen it before.

That pole has been hit numorous times over the years. I would set-up on that sucker ALL next deer season. Deffinitly put a trail cam near by.
It's not the kill, but the hunt, where memories are made.

Haha, thats always the case. Me and my buddy found 1 at our camp right at the end of the season. It was twice as big as any of the other rubs at our place. It looked like someone took a wood grinder to it. there was shreded wood all over the ground. Hopefully he doesnt get shot by the locals and comes back next year.
