On the topic of rubs,,I live in an area with not that many trees bucks like to rub. Here they prefer Locust and cedar. Unfortunately, these trees tend to have alot of lower branches,,so I take lower branches off select trees every spring, especially near deer trails. Every end of season I find almost all of my limbed trees used for rubbing. It works!  I always have some large select trees that get rerubbed every season. Not sure why bucks like certain trees over and over. Also,,I always wonder about scrapes? Certain spots are favorites, while some are used only once,,and some from years of use are suddenly abandoned?

Access to does and the scent they give off makes certain areas favorites.  One explanation for some scrapes getting abandoned suddenly is, an old buck was run out of the area by a new strong young buck, the buck died either of natural causes, predation/poaching, or aluminum/carbon/lead poisoning.

Wow, what a rub Urban Legend. I would set up trail cameras now and see what I might get a picture of. I believe I see a couple more in the back ground. Did you find any sheds, especially in the area there ? I think I
know the vicinity of the buck you spoke of. I read a lot about that buck. Interesting read, you think it was a 22 caliber ? I do, makes since to me. Number one poaching tool by the poachers. Does the train still run through that area ?

I have heard a couple of stories about the H-in-H.  Don't know about the 22 in the antler, but I do know he was shot from a train.  Most of the stories you read about, are just stories.  I know some old-timers that know the truth.

Would love to hear the story Urban Legend. Please share what they say with the rest of us. Or at least with me. I will take it as hear say and just remember the good parts. Thanks ,,,,,,
