Here in PA most WalMarts treat all hunting items as seasonal. After the season they go on clearence.

I used to live in Cadillac; Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell are good walleye lakes. I live about 30 miles north of there now; the little lake I live near has a few but they keep putting weedkiller in every summer to kill off the milfoil, and the weedkiller's active ingredient is 2-4-D, the active ingredient of agent orange, so I wouldn't eat a fish out of there on a dare now. I don't have a clue how those idiots got the DNR/DEQ to OK that. Someday they might have to use that lake for a water supply; then what? I don't think that stuff ever goes away, it's in the bugs the fish eat and keeps recycling itself.

My wife has worked for Wal-Mart for over 20 years.
We live in a state and in an area of the state where the main industry is tourism. Most of the jobs here are low-paying. If I told you what Wal-Mart pays my wife, many wouldn't believe me because many believe what they hear on the news. The factories in this area, if you COULD get a job in them, do not pay NEAR what my wife makes hourly [she's hourly, not in management]. If I told you about her 401K, her stock purchases, her medical savings account [they GAVE her thousands of dollars to put into it, they GAVE her thousands of dollars for her 401K as well], many probably wouldn't believe that either. They have offered her NUMEROUS opportunities to advance and move up into management, which she has always declined, not wanting to spend the extra time required at the store.
Yes, they have had some in management who have done some dishonest things, and of course we all hear all about THAT, but we never hear about the good they have done. They have raised the standard of living in this area.
Wal-Mart has been nothing but good to this family, and good to yours as well if you have ever bought anything there, because they are usually lower in price, allowing you to spend less and keep more of your money in your pocket.
In the time we live in today, many find it preferable to live off of you instead of go to work, and if they did go to work, of course they would want to start at the top.
What you hear about Wal-Mart on the news is fueled by some lazy, vocal malcontents and union leaders who would like to see Wal-Mart get unionized. For the life of me I don't see the use or the need for a union, at least in my wife's store in Cadillac, MI. They are already better to their "associates" [employees] than they have to be.
Wal-Mart is an American success story; a story where a shirt salesman had the freedom and opportunity, WILLING TO WORK, to succeed in a free country. Don't let media bashing "big business" and "The Evil Wal-Mart" take that opportunity away from you by getting you to think there is no opportunity anymore; it's there if you want it...at least for now. If anyone would want the opportunity, you would be astounded by what Wal-Mart managers make in bonuses, but of course you would be expected to work and start at the bottom.
I hear all about how Wal-Mart puts mom and pop stores out of business and that is partly true, but what do you expect? Many mom and pop stores are located downtown where you have to circle the block several times to try to find parking. If you manage to find parking, you will have to walk a distance to the store, but don't forget to feed the meter 1st or you'll get a parking ticket costing you $10 or more for the privilege of shopping downtown. Then when you're done shopping, you get to repeat the process over again as you go to another store to get what the 1st store didn't have.
Who can blame anyone for wanting to shop where there is plenty of FREE parking, no chance to get a parking ticket, and enough stuff to buy where you likely won't have to go to several different stores to shop. If that puts mom and pop stores out of business, at least part of the blame lies with city government that survives off parking meters and traffic fines. End rant.

They helped this family very much. My daughter worked there for three years and they offered her more opportunity to move up, and she almost, or at least thought about quitting college (degree in nursing) to work at Wall-Mart. She was making almost as much as I, only after three years. I have been with the State for 10 years. I thought about quitting my job to start at Wall-Mart.
I even saw a crossbow for sale at the Morehead, Ky Wall-Mart the other day. I had never saw a crossbow for sale there before. Thumbs up Wally World from me.....................
