I have a problem with my Xbow that I haven't been able to find an answer to, though I see someone else has the same problem. When I slide my bolt in, I go all the way to the string. But when it gets to the coil spring for the string retainer(not sure what it's called), it rides up slightly, off the riser. Now, the bow is new to me, and the previous owner says he never noticed. It still shoots very consistently! Do I leave well enough alone? This kind of stuff really bothers me, I want it right, but boy is it accurate. I know its out of warranty, so I expect nothing for free, but I would like to know if anyone has any ideas. Thanx, Hodgie

There are a few unanswered questions since early September. Where is the Barnett rep?

New Predetor (customer service)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good morning all
I am new to this forum and I think its great.
Let me give you my experience so far with Barnett.
Received the predator 3 weeks ago (shooting great)
1st email to customer service asking a general bolt question no response
2nd email was to ask if the scope mount could be longer as the scope is to close to my eye (even with the stock adjusted).... no response
3rd email was to explain my disappointment with the customer service department.
4 or 5 days later I got an email with a phone number and a name (which I wont mention) to call so I called
Explained who I was and my questions asked about the scope mount and if there was a longer on for more eye relief he was abrupt NO
Here is what happened with my bow after about 40 to 50 bolts thru it
I shot it with the factory bolts that came with it and the string came off did not break went and looked my bolt went about 15 yards.
Looking at the cams the right side one where the string goes around the metal broke off and the left side you could see on the cam stress marks or cracks on the paint also where the string connects to the cam stress marks you can see where the metal on the LS cam is bending up.
Told this whole thing to the rep he seemed not to be interested and he said the bow is under warranty I explained I sent it back to Cabels already and he said ok anything else i said no not really he said bye and hung up on me!!
So now its back ordered and our season started last Saturday
So far it has not been a pleasant experience with Barnett
I am going to try one more and see what happens
Thanks
Ernie

The above post was on September 19. I am getting very, very concerned about the quality of service I can expect from Barnett on my new Predator. Where is the Barnett rep to respond?

Suggest that anyone having questions about Barnett crossbows contact Barnett direct by Telephone or E- mail, As well as posting here.
There is no guarantee that a rep  may be available at this time to respond to your question.
Hopefully a rep from Barnett will again be available to crossbow nation members.

you are only supposed to unload with a bolt... too hard to let down with cocking device... i just had a string break this weekend... snapped right on the side of the serving, but it wasnt the stock string as that thing wore out long time ago

I had to send in my xbow for a new trigger mechanism as mine was hitting the string and tearing it up and they were very quick with help... i just had to pay shipping there

if you have any questions, i feel it is easiest to call... emails seem to let them think you are not that serious or not that important in my opinion... get much better results with a phone call

Can Loctite be used wherever a screw or bolt is on a Barnett crossbow without voiding the warranty?

I don't think using the proper loc-tite would void any warranty. Use the BLUE or medium loc-tite. Never use the RED loc-tite unless you want that connection to be permanent. (You can actually heat the RED loc-tite connection with a torch to break it but I'm sure that would void any warranty.)

Is my new wildcat supposed to have a plastic cable slide that inserts inside the cable groove to keep the cables seperated? The PSE my buddy bought has one and I was wondering if it got left out of my package because I have shot mine only 20 times and where the cables cross is starting to flatten and fray. I have waxed them before I shot it and at least every five shots afterwards along with the rail.

Hi gang,
I realize that the Barnett rep hasn't been on for awhile but I figured there are enough knowledgeable people around to answer my question.

I am a bit of a newbie with a crossbow and am only on my first season with one.  I bought a Quad 400 last year and have shot about 30 bolts with it.  Today I took a shot and noticed that my bolt retainer snapped.  It looks like it is easily replaced, I was just wondering where the best place is to get a replacement.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The real crappy thing though is that I was going on my first hunt this weekend.  I assume that if I try to shoot it without the bolt retainer bad things are going to happen.

Call the Barnett Customer Service number asap unless you know of a Barnett Service center near you.  Sorry but you may have a problem for this weekend.
If you have a registered Barnett dealer (not box store) near you, they may be able to give you some help.
