All Barnett crossbows should use moon nocks. Do not use flat nocks.

I just got a new c5 for myself today, I love it. But I have 2 questions actually. 1 The red dot sight that comes with the bow has 3 dots, at what range do you recommend to set them, top to bottom. 2 There was an extra little plastic part that looks like it would go between the prod and the stock, but the instructions say nothing about the part or where to put it?

The extra plastic part is an extra pressure pad. There is already a pressure pad glued to the nose plug on your bow. The pressure pad helps align the riser to the stock.

Don't loose the extra pressure pad you might need it in the future.

Your actual red dot distance with your bow will vary depending on your arrow weight. I would sight the bow in at 20 yards and then shoot at other distances to determine what your distances your "dots" are equivalent to.

Is there an anti dry fire mechanism on the Predator?  I cannot find any referance in your literature.

Dinosuz,

The Predator does not have a anti-dry fire feature in the trigger assembly.

The safety automatically engages when you cock the bow.

I'm seeing 38 1/2" and 39.63" listed for Predator's string length; which is it?

Did it change between 2008 & 2009?  that would explain the difference.  And, no one gives specifications for strings.  Guess that's why people make their own.

How do I know I'm getting a string designed for a 2009 Predator?

Kutter,

The Predator string should be 38.5" long. The other length is incorrect.

Just called customer services in Florida and the information that I was given previously by catalogs, online, and by salesmen was incorrect.  The one yr stated policy is still in effect.  However Barnett said that if any manufacturing defects were found later they would handle it.  Also if there are problems due to accident, abuse, lack of care, etc, they would onlly charge their cost and according to the list of prices that they gave me, they were much less than other companies I checked out in this bow price range and quality.  Sorry for supplying misinformation.  I have learned the hard way to quadruple check my info.  I still think Barnett is a good company.  They have been exceptionally courteous and helpful when I have contacted them by phone or by email.

BXB, I tried to get into the Barnett web site today and could not.  There is a very wild rumor going around that hackers have broken into some crossbow manufacturer websites and caused problems (terrorists no doubt :)).  I suspect that updating or changing servers is more likely the reason.  Have you any first hand information to share concerning this occurance?

I know this might be asking to much but I have a RC300 crossbow that I bought back in 1995 and I know it is very old but it was my first xbow and I shot a lot of deer with it. But I decided to quit shooting it do to fear of the main cable breaking, I tried everywhere to fine a replacement cable with no luck can you please find out if there is a chance I can get a new cable for it.. I saw what happens when that cable breaks on a RC300, My brother in-law RC300 cable broke and tore part of his cheek off his face so I quit using my RC300 because of that. Thank You

Uney3,

You can get parts for your RC300 from Don at Crossbow Service Center. The number is (888) 975-0880.

The Barnett site is up. We switched service providers over the weekend. The change was planned.

Have there been any changes/improvements in the 09 series of Predators as compared to the 07-08 models?

The 09 Predator comes with a Red/Green 3 dot standard. In 08 only some promotional Predators came with the Red/Green 3 dot.

Realtree has made some changes to their APG camo (which comes on the Predator) for 09. This camo will appear different than the 08 APG patterned Predators.

There are no major changes on the Predator between 08 to 09.

Hi BXB,

The Panzer we have is just the right size for the kids, so I would like to fix this if possible.

I somehow jammed a bolt into it and broke off the holddown. In looking closely, it is made of spring steel and can't be sodered on. Since the trigger system and hold down are one integrated unit, it looks like a total replacement of the assembly is what is needed.

Can you help suggest what to do?

Thanks very much,

JK

I read somewhere, I don't recall, that some guy left his crossbow cocked for
YEARS just to see if the limbs get weaker. He said that it didn't, but I'd like a second opinion. No, I wasn't planning to try it. I just wondered if I sat for hours in a blind or tree stand, with the bow cocked, would the limbs get weaker.                    Wolfman
