The Bishop was wrong when he said that Hitler and Mussolini would love our public school system. What we have in reality is a network of socialist indoctrination centers, not schools as institution of learning, as in education. If kids today happen to learn anything of real value in public schools, it is completely incidental and accidental, or through the sheer desire to excel. The desire to excel is internal and not given by a school system, but by family and Biblical values.
No wonder the Catholics have their own school system. At my age and in this day, I can’t tell you how sad I am for parents who have to send their kids to public schools. They are training the next lost generation humanistic socialists there now. It really burns me that we’re so stupid or hopeless or helpless to do anything about it, that we PAY them with our tax money to do this to our kids and grandkids.
Knowing what I know now, if I had the responsibility of caring for a child today, I would home school or find a good Christian Academy.

I've been beating that drum for 40yrs Jack. It is my personal belief that the implimentation of universal school taxes was the socialist "camel's nose under the tent."
Have you ever gone to a PTA meeting? I pay the same school taxes as someone that actually has kids, yet I'm completely disregarded (at a minimum) when voicing any concerns. The mantra is, that by not having any children, I can't possibly know anything about what is a bad influence.
I can't dwell on this subject, as my rage will not only work on me all day, but might incite me to write a few things that I probably shouldn't.

Jack,
Although I believe that there are a minor percentage of teachers in our public schools that are not trying to push the liberal, socialist, agenda, and truly have the students well being and education at the forefront of their goals, many of the schools and their administrators definitely do push that agenda. That's one of the major reasons that Home Schooling has become so popular in recent years by parents that do not want their children exposed to the very liberal and very secular value system that is pushed so hard in our public schools.
