I just purchased a Maximus Bone-splitter 225 crossbow at the Eastern Outdoor sports show. I was told by the vendor that it had a lifetime warranty and that it was manufactured in USA. When I got home, I found the card in the box that stated the bows has a 5 year warranty instead of lifetime and have seen on a lot of forums that the bow's components are made in China and assembled in USA/Canada. I didn't do any research on this bow before attending the show (shame on me), so I had to take the vendors word for everything. I see some other posts that Maximus has returned all manufacturing and assemble to the USA. Is there any way to know if my bow is made with USA parts or Chinese parts?

Thanks

PA, it sounds like you found an unscrupulous or ill-informed vendor, and you probably don't have much recourse.  One way to get your pound of flesh might be to post the vendor's name.
If I understand it correctly, the made in USA crossbows haven't been released for sale yet.  Not much help, but if it shoots OK, I wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about it and I'm sure Maximus will stand behind it.

Look on here under the Maximus thread. There are pictures of the new bows there. The Bone Splitters are the old bows made overseas. If you paid by credit card I would try to stop payment seeing how you got lied to by the dealer.

You are all correct...I verified with the Maximus Cust. Service Dept. (very good and honest about everything) that the bow only has 5 year warranty, no anti dry fire, and made in China.  I did get a written receipt saying I can return it for a full refund :).  It is going back to the local shop (who was at the sports show) tomorrow night.  I also purchased a wicked ridge invader 2011 for $420 out the door at bass pro.  WR shot better and the trigger is better.

Hi PATurkeyHuntr,

Thank you for choosing a Maximus Crossbow, I would like to offer you some information regarding your bonesplitter purchase at the show.

It is true, the Bonesplitter crossbow was our original crossbow.  The 2012 "R Series" of crossbows are the Made in USA models.

It sounds like you had been caught up in the switch over, and the dealer you spoke to with good intentions sold you a crossbow thinking it was the new ones.  The Bonesplitter is still an excellent crossbow with a five year warranty, reliable durable and comparable to other recurve crossbows.
The Bonesplitter is an imported crossbow, much like Wicked ridge which until 2012 production is partly imported too.

if you havent returned the Bonesplitter yet, I would be happy to offer you this...

Keep the Bonesplitter, and I will sell you an R-Series Crossbow for the difference of what you paid for the Bonesplitter and the R series.

If you have returned the Bonesplitter and are enjoying the Wicked Ridge, enjoy it.  It is a good crossbow and a good company.  Most importantly, you are a crossbow hunter participating in a great way to hunt.

PM me if you would like to take me up on my offer.

Good luck to you,

Paul
