I got permission to hunt a farm I have been wanting to hunt for a while. I'm so pumped about hunting this farm because not only am I going to hunt some prime Realestate, but the owner has set me up on a group of long beards. He took me out today and the birds were just exactly where he said they would be he showed me where they were entering the field and what time they would be there. Man I have been hunting state land most of my life and this is the first time I have had the scouting done for me and the birds pretty much handed to me. he also said I could come back in the fall for deer season. The only rules is it's a one bird limit and during deer season I can get one deer off the property no size limit. Now I have to do my part and shoot straight. I'm just so pumped over this!!!! I hope to post up some pic's tomorrow.

Ya gotta love it when you get a honey hole handed to you. Right about now I would be wondering what I could do to help out the land owner. I too got permision to hunt a farm. I have to dust all the ground hogs on the property before I can hunt deer. Win win for me and him.Congrats. :thumbsu:

Well I spent the afternoon on the edge of a field that we saw the turkeys yesterday. All that showed up was a hen. Which was kinda strange because according to the property owner they have been there every day just like clock work. I was getting ready to pack it in and I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, guess what came running by a freaking coyote so it makes sense. I herd him off and on to my right behind me most of the afternoon I just didn't realize it was a coyote. He ran by me at 56 yards jumped a ditch to my left and I hit the diaphragm call  making it sound the best I could like a rabbit. As soon as I hit the call he spun around and at a full run right at me I settled the 40 yard pin on him weighting for him to get in range and wouldn't you know it he winded me spun around and at a full all out run got the heck out of dodge. Needless to say I didn't get a shot so I'll be back at it Saturday. I hope he shows back up I'm going to pack a predator call next time and hit it before he gets by me up wind.

I'm sure that land owner would be thrilled if you took a few coyotes off his land. Around here that will definetly get you invited back next season.

Well still no bird but he did finally show him self yesterday. he came out with a group of three hens and wouldn't leave them. Now I know where they are coming out in to the field I plan on being there tomorrow. One thing I wanted to tell you guy is the experience I had with a eagle my last outing. Yes I said eagle! I was set up  on a small hill with my back to a large oak with lots of growth around the base. At around 10:00 Am I had the crap scared out of me, I'm setting there enjoying the birds singing and watching a turtle do it's best to get across this yet to be planted field, I was in my own world. When out of nowhere I here the loudest highest pitched screech I have ever herd. I jump up just like I had a spring mounted to my rear, crossbow in hand ready to fling a arrow at what ever it was the made that screech ( any of you that have herd a eagle know the sound ) Seriously I dang near crapped my self. I had no clue at the time it was an eagle all I knew was something was real close to me and I had no idea where. After a close look around I saw nothing and it never occurred to me to look up, I sat back down and started to relax when it let out another screech again I'm on my feet ready for what ever it was when it dawned on me the noise was coming from above me. I look up and man is that what I think it is I get the bino's out and get a good look and the only thought that went through my mind is ( beside where I can get a new set of drawers ) should I move or stay put and hope I don't look like lunch. I wish I had brought my camera because of course my wife and kids think dad was hitting the sauce. I don't know what kind of eagle it was but it was dark almost black and it had white markings the feathers on it's head was longer and it was huge. Other than a chicken snake deciding to make my turkey vest a hang out, the eagle was a roller coaster of emotions from shaking uncontrollably to complete awe for that 20 min or so turkey hunting took a back seat.

Well I guess I'll have to wait until deer season to harvest anything off this property. The Tom I saw has moved to the neighboring property. I saw him today through my bino's and he was a long and I mean Long way off. 1 more day and it's over here I am going in to a place I have hunted for years and see if I can get on a bird. I don't care if it is a long beard or not so long as it's legal. I will say one thing I had a blast chasing that bird and saw all kinds of deer so deer season should be interesting to say the least. I hope you guys had a great season and for those of you that are still at it I wish you the best of luck. It's all about the hunt not the kill.
