I was watching one of my bow hunting shows last week and during the tip of the week part they talked about one shot.  In other words when hunting your not going for a group but one great shot.

So Im shooting one shot a day.  putting my bag at diff yardage not what my scope is set for then taking a range read as I would in the feild and making the shot.  And I have to say it works.. Im even putting the bag in the brush and next to trees.  So practice that one shot.

By the way I missed one last night at 53 yards. lol.  My scope is set for 49 on the forth dot she jumped string saw the luminock fly over her shoulder as she squatted down..

I've been doing the same thing.  One shot, with both my vbows and xbow for the past several months.  Yes it pays off.  You normally only get one shot.  Obviously you feel more comfortable shooting further out than I do but that is personal preferences.  Distance changes with equipment, and personal abilities.  The key is to know your equipment and it's abilities, your abilities and stay within those limits.

My archery club leaves some 3D targets in the woods year round (shhh!) and we can practice like this whenever we want.
Miscellaneous yardages and different angles...everything.
Even some elevated shots from platform stands.
Great practice.
