from the hunter;  No tags here so i guess counts as a doe, he got a game warden to examine it and they actually found a recessed testical around the milk sack. i also would think it was rarer than 1 in 1000. i have killed a slick headed buck before. He had no pedicles but had the package. This deer had nothing but the female goods but again they did find a recessed testicle which would explain the hormones needed to produce the antlers i guess. Its about as good of a main frame five point as u could get. The spike side has a 21 inch mainbeam. Here is the only trail cam pic he got of the deer all summer. Got it on Sept 29th.

Cool.  That explains why it is still in velvet too.

That is rare indeed.  Once in a blue moon you hear of someone around here getting an antlered doe.  I think they have to use their buck tag though.

I understand some bucks that stay in velvet year round never lose their antlers.  They make enough stuff to produce antlers, but not enough to breed.   I guess they just keep growing.  Those bucks tend to stay in one spot and never roam anywhere.  Never a ROAMEO always a JULIET!  :D  Well, it was funny to me.  :o

I'm doing okay although this body I am in isn't doing so hot. But the Lord is giving me a new one, so why worry about it?

This type thing I've heard about - but not yet seen in person.  I don't know which would be the rarest one like this or a calico deer.  Strange things happen in this world.

Cool. I've mounted the heads of two antlered doe so far, one in velvet the other had polished ones. I'm told the difference is caused by  how much testosterone they do produce. In Mn anything with one (polished) antler at least 3" long counts as a buck.

In Mississippi we can't go by Buck/Doe it has to be Antlered/Antlerless. We can take 3 antlered and 5 antlerless, so he will have to count this as an antlered deer. It's all on the honor system and it's just how much honor anyone has as to how many deer they take. I killed a good sized doe one year. I didn't realize it was a buck till I started dressing it. Slick headed as any doe I'd ever seen.

20 plus years ago one of my hunting buddies arrowed what he thought was a buck. Turned out that the deer had no testicals, only female organs.
The antlers were semi hard/soft and could be broken fairly easily which then showed small amounts of blood flowing thru them.
We later took the deer into town just to see if anyone had ever seen this before and the game warden there told us that although this isn't common, it's not as rare as most would think.
The warden also informed my buddy that he did right by using a buck tag on it because testicals or not, it was still an antlered deer. Here in Texas it only matters if the deer has antlers or not to be considered buck or antlerless regardless of the genitals.
That is the only deer I have ever seen like that since in over 40 yrs of hunting.
