I got a new Horton explorer for Christmas. Will the factory string stretch like it will on a vertical bow. I made marks with a sharpie on each side of the string so I could be sure I was cocking it even and they are on the bottom of the string now and the POI has changed. Also Ive been reading on here about jig a loo and using it for rail lube can I use it on the explorer it has a composite rail? I really don't like the greasy Rail lube that comes with the xbow It seams to me it would be a dirt magnet.

it will settle in after a few shots and the jig-a-loo is great on that stock, same type stock i have..spray it on cloth and wipe the rail good for about 15 shots then reapply..also i shot my horton for a year with dial-a-range, but the other day i epoxied the scope mount down tight and drilled a 1/8th in. hole in it and installed a roll pin right behind the screw that holds the scope mount..no more poi change..i sight in dead on at 25yds that makes it 3inches low at 35 and about 1inch high at 20..enjoy your bow i had an explorer and loved it

Yes the string will stretch somewhat, you can shorten it to the desired length by twisting it up. Jig A Loo can be used on a composite rail. I'd apply it sparingly with a small piece of cloth, rather than spraying it directly onto the deck.

OK thanks I'm not too worried about the string stretch If its like my vertical I'll only drop a couple of lbs. Its just I had been reading on here about jigaloo and was wanting to get rid of the rail lube that came with the xbow, Are there any other lubes that will work the same in case I cant find jigaloo in my area? I think I understand that It can't be petroleum based.

Strings will strech, but unlike the vertical bows there is no nock point or loop that might move. I like to scrib or mark the cam right where the string comes off. In the future all I need to do is look to see if the string needs a few twist.
I like using Tri-Flow silicone in the tube. I put it on the rail and wipe it off, now I know the string will run smooth and so will the arrow in its track.

I'm trying regular silicone spray, on a cloth, wiped on the rail and shafts. The carrier dries quickly and leaves the silicone behind, which stays verrrrrrry slippery.

I just measure my ATA (axle to axle) now and then to check for string stretch.  I use jigaloo ... liberally.  (not political liberal ... physically liberally):D

What is recommended to clean the rail ? I have some jigaloo on the way and I want to get all the Horton rail lube off before I apply it. should I just not worry about it and when it comes in start using it with out cleaning the rail ? Thanks for all the advice

Jig-A-Loo is no longer sold at Wal-Mart but can be found at The Home Depot, Advance Auto Parts, Menards, PepBoys and participating independent hardware retailers nationwide.

Don't spray the Jig A Loo on the deck, wipe it on with a rag. Noticed that a Limbsaver won't stick to limbs previously sprayed with Jig A Loo.

Tell your wife to try using Goo Gone on the portion of the floor that's slippery. If you don't have any of that then try using either shampoo or dish detergent, mix with water, and rub with a paper towel to absorb the residue.
